The Senate’s lax new dress code gave rise to calls for a congressional-wide change and for one legislator in particular to show up “in a string bikini” to show just how slippery slopes work.
In honor of Pennsylvania’s hobo-chic Sen. John Fetterman (D), the spirit animal of an entitled generation of “quiet quitters” and “lazy girl” gig anti-hustlers, social media had some ideas about how to shake up the stodgy, besuited U.S. Capitol.
Namely, and seemingly unrelated to her own current media attention, one X user wondered at the possibility of Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) testing the limits on the House floor with some barely there togs.
“Lauren Boebert should show up to Congress in a string bikini and see how far we can take this new lax dress code.”

As previously reported, in order to accommodate his stroke-addled Pennsylvania colleague who had spent a considerable amount of time kicking off the term checked into a facility for depression, Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D) allowed for a rewriting of the rules rather than enforcing them or even implementing a strict exemption for Fetterman.
The ensuing uproar over the freshman’s fashion foibles led him to retaliate with his own shot on the decorum of the lower chamber with a particular callout to Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) and her display of explicit images of Hunter Biden during a congressional hearing.
“Thankfully, that nation’s lower chamber lives by a higher code of conduct: displaying ding-a-ling pics in public hearings,” his X account posted.
Fetterman has Hunter Biden’s ‘ding-a-ling pics,’ and ‘humping legs’ on his mind. TMI, dude! https://t.co/FmxUQrETvz via @BIZPACReview

Of course, aside from the reality that Boebert’s seat is in the House which has its own rules separate from the Senate, (a disappointment to some), the devolving imagery presented from both sides of the aisle drew to mind images of the dystopic government depicted in “Idiocracy.”
I think this is for the Senate only, but still, I approve of your idea

Shes not a Senator sadly…

While the fantasies of social media users were likely to remain unfilled, others called up images inspiring both hysteria and nightmares with their suggestions of lawmakers that could take advantage of the dress code as well — including those from the octo- and even nonagenarian brackets.
Though falling under the same rules as Boebert, one user spoke to caution and prompted the potential of a bikini-donned former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Another quipped, “The Democrats will just counter with [California Sen.] Dianne Feinstein in a thong and be cheered for their inclusion.”
Still, another took a different tact with some offerings on how Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) could “step up to the plate” that included a serial killer costume and a star-spangled speedo.

Mind you, the Texas lawmaker wasn’t above a touch of self-deprecating humor as he reacted to Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt’s (R) suggestion that he might show up in “jorts and a tank top.”
