A Turkish lawmaker was struck by a heart attack just moments after declaring that Israel will “not be able to escape the wrath of Allah.”
Saadet Party Kocaeli Deputy Hasan Bitmez, 53, was speaking before the Turkish Parliament on Tuesday when he offered a critical take on Israel.
“Even if history remains silent, the truth will not remain silent. They think that if they get rid of us, there will be no problem,” Bitmez said, according to translations. “However, if you get rid of us, you will not be able to escape the torment of conscience. Even if you escape the torment of history, you will not be able to escape the wrath of Allah.”
“I salute you all,” Bitmez concluded, before collapsing to the marble floor of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Shocking moment in Turkish Parliament today. MP Hasan Bismet threatened that Israel would suffer the “wrath of Allah”.

Bitmez received first aid from an emergency medical crew, which performed CPR as he was taken out of the room on a stretcher, according to the BBC.
The Turkish Minister of Health would give an update on the official’s health.
“During angiography, it was seen that two main veins were completely blocked, and after the intervention did not yield any results, he was connected to a heart-lung pump,” Fahrettin Koca said. “He is now vital with a heart-lung pump.”
Mark Levin responded in a tweet: “Turkish parliament member condemns Israel and says it will ‘suffer the wrath of Allah’ and immediately has a heart attack. Allah has spoken.”

It’s fair to say that sympathy was in short supply online, as social media users were quick to mock Bitmez’s bad fortune — and bad timing.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
“The most entertaining outcome is the most likely.”

Nothing like a good, old-fashioned smiting on live TV.

Kind of like the old joke, “may God strike me dead” and then the speaker is hit by a lightning bolt.

hahaha!!!! Life rarely provides such a compelling, meaningful consequence! The only way this could have been better is if he had a winning lotto ticket in his pocket.
