Miami Dolphins defend Tyreek Hill, demand punishment for officers

On the same day body-cam footage was released on the detention of Miami Dolphins star player Tyreek Hill, the team issued a statement demanding punishment for the Miami-Dade Police Department officers involved in the incident.

The Dolphins ignored that Hill was immediately combative with the officers, and took actions that could have put officer safety at risk when he rolled up his blacked-out windows while engaged with one of the cops. The player was also dishonest about being cooperative as he did the media gauntlet selling a brand of racism eagerly consumed in post-Obama America — for the record, the officers involved appear to have been Hispanic.

Then again, given the state of the NFL under woke Commissioner Roger Goodell, who allowed the Black Lives Matter banner to be plastered on the field AND on player’s helmets, Miami did not have much of a choice. At the very least, the team would risk mutiny within had it taken a more responsible approach.

“We are saddened by the overly aggressive and violent conduct directed towards Tyreek Hill, Calais Campbell, and Jonnu Smith by police officers before yesterday’s game,” the Dolphins said. “It is both maddening and heartbreaking to watch the very people we trust to protect our community and use such unnecessary force and hostility towards these players, yet it is also a reminder that not every situation like this ends in peace, as we are grateful this one did. ‘What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill?’ is a question that will carry with resounding impact.”

“We are proud to have a strong and positive relationship with the Miami-Dade Police Department and other law enforcement agencies and recognize that the vast majority of officers do serve the community with the utmost character and desire to protect all citizens,” the team continued. “However, as is on full display in the videos released tonight, there are some officers who mistake their responsibility and commitment to serve with misguided power. While we commend MDPD for taking the right and necessary action to quickly release this footage, we also urge them to take equally swift and strong action against the officers who engaged in such despicable behavior.

“We will stand beside Tyreek and our players as they work to use their platform and this situation to make a positive impact in our community. We have always believed that the game of football holds a unique power to bring people together, and we remain hopeful that through the collective work of the players, organization, and our community partners, we can create lasting change.”

Hill bought in on the “change” theme, but the change that may be needed most is for people to respect law enforcement — Hill was initially stopped for excessive speeding.

As seen in the body camera footage, the NFL player was barking orders from the onset. And while one officer had a right to be concerned about their safety and being able to see what Hill was doing inside the car, a second officer was impatient and overly aggressive in response to Hill’s arrogant demeanor.

“Don’t knock on my window like that, man,” Hill told an officer who approached his window.

After they went back and forth a bit, Hill then demanded, “Just give me my ticket so I can go, I’m finna be late. So do what you gotta do.”

Interestingly, Hill complained to the officers about just having surgery on his knee when asked to take a seat on a curb after he was pulled from his car and handcuffed — a few hours later, Hill scampered for a lightening fast 80-yard touchdown pass in a contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hill immediately played the race card with the officers, who pushed back that they are “people of color, too.” Unfortunately for them, in today’s political spectrum black trumps brown.

“I’m just being a black man, that’s it. I’m just being black in America in a nice car,” the multimillionaire player said.

“We’re dark too, brother. We’re people of color, too. Don’t play like that’s special,” an officer can be heard saying off-camera.

Naturally, the liberal media sided with Tyreek Hill being a victim of racist cops, which only assures more of the same type of behavior. However, social media users appeared to take a different view of events.
