Boxing legend Mike Tyson was seen at Miami airport being escorted around in a wheelchair. This concerned fans who had, just weeks ago, heard Tyson remark on his own mortality, even going as far as to say his “expiration date is coming close.”
The photo, posted on Facebook by ‘Just Boxing 101’ depicts a “fragile” looking Tyson in a wheelchair. This sparked a flurry of speculation about the athlete’s health.
However, Tyson isn’t staring down the business end of his own demise just yet. A source reported to celebrity gossip outlet TMZ that Tyson was simply dealing with a flare-up from sciatica which is pretty common among athletes.
“‘He’s dealing with a sciatica flare-up,’ our sources tell us. ‘Nothing serious. Just an occupational hazard for an athlete like Mike,'” TMZ explained.
This may come as some comfort, though many are likely comparing this to the boxer’s recent comments on his podcast, Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson when he discussed death and money.
“We’re all going to die one day, of course,” he said. “Then, when I look in the mirror and I see those little spots on my face, and I say, ‘Wow, my expiration date is coming close — really soon.’”

Despite what Tyson may be thinking about his health, one may argue that he has many years ahead of him.
In April of this year, the boxer displayed just some of his skill and vitality when he pummeled an intoxicated plane passenger who would not stop harassing him.
BizPac Review reported on the initial incident, where Tyson politely asked the man to stop bothering him, after taking selfies with his friend. Despite the classy reprimand, the passenger would not let up. Eventually, the famed athlete snapped and rained blows down on the man’s head and face.
Tyson was not arrested or charged for the beating, which was largely viewed as justified by many on social media.

So while even a legend like Tyson is getting older (aren’t we all?) it’s clear that he still has some fight left in him.
