Teens who beat boy to death score SWEETHEART plea deals, leaving mom of victim ‘dumbfounded’

Melissa Ready, the mother of a 17-year-old boy who was stomped to death by four bullies in Las Vegas was shocked to hear that they had taken a sweetheart plea deal downgrading the charges to juvenile manslaughter.

Jonathan Lewis reportedly tried to defend a smaller friend on Nov. 1, 2023, and was attacked by a mob of 15 teens Four of them stomped him on the ground until he was unconscious. He died six days later in the hospital. The whole horrifying incident was caught on video but it didn’t make a lick of difference to the authorities who cut the deal.

“Dontral Beaver, 16, Damian Hernandez, 18, Treavion Randolph, 16, and Gianni Robinson all stood accused of his murder after being charged as adults in January,” the Daily Mail reported. “On Thursday, it was announced that they all accepted a plea deal that will allow them to plead guilty as juveniles to manslaughter.”

“That case would take place in a juvenile court, with the four facing an undetermined length of imprisonment in a juvenile detention center. Should any of the teens back out of the deal, then all four would again be charged in adult court, Chief Deputy District Attorney John Giordani said,” the media outlet noted.

The distraught mother told 8NewsNow that she was disgusted after the deal was announced. She asserted that the four teens should be tried as adults.

“You cannot jump in a human being’s head, stomp on him, and think that they’re going to remain alive after. They knew he was going to die, and that’s how I feel – and they’re letting them get away with murder,” she told the media outlet.

“I was told that they were going to plead guilty to murder and that the most they would get in the adult system is two years. I would’ve disagreed with the deal entirely. They should be accountable as adults – they made an adult choice,” Ready remarked.

The heartbroken mother said the move by the prosecutors left her “dumbfounded” and “in shock.”

“Out of the nine teens arrested, four others, including a 13-year-old boy, have pleaded guilty in juvenile court to voluntary manslaughter,” the Daily Mail wrote. “Authorities in Vegas have said the students agreed to meet in the alley to fight over a vape pen and wireless headphones that had been stolen from Lewis’ friend.”

After Lewis was brutally pummeled, a student and neighbor carried him to safety. Eventually, EMTs and an ambulance arrived along with police.

“Defense lawyer Robert Draskovich, representing Robinson, called the fight a tragedy, but said convicting the four as adults would have been a second tragedy,” the Daily Mail said.

“This negotiation enables my client to graduate high school, move on with his life, and become a productive citizen,” the attorney commented.

Outrageously, Draskovich is asking that at sentencing Robinson be released from custody with credit for time already served.

Right on cue, the ass-covering commenced.

“In a statement, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson acknowledged Lewis’ mother’s comments and ‘the pain she is going through as she mourns her son,'” the Daily Mail reported. “It added that she had been informed last week about the terms of the negotiations before defending the resolution of the case.”

“The statement said juvenile court is ‘best equipped to punish the defendants for their heinous conduct’ while also offering rehabilitation,” the outlet added.

The state of Nevada can charge a teenager who is facing a count of murder as an adult if they are 13 or older when the crime was committed.
