Mom tells California Senate her daughter was ‘murdered by gender ideology’ with help from public school

A grieving mother told the California Judiciary Senate that her 19-year-old daughter was “murdered by gender ideology.”

Abigail Martinez told the committee, “It has been three years and 164 days since I lost my daughter Yaeli. I miss her every single day.”

She explained that Child Protective Services (CPS) removed her teenage daughter from her “loving home” after she refused to affirm her “trans identity.”

“My daughter was murdered by gender ideology,” she stated. “CPS took my daughter when she was 16 years old.”

“It was helped by her public school counselor, and LGBTQ group, and another trans-identified girl,” Martinez explained. “My daughter was taken from her loving home because the state of California claimed I was abusive for not affirming her trans identity.”

“I lost my daughter over a name and pronouns,” she said.

Three years after CPS intervened, in September 2019, 19-year-old Yaeli Mozelle Galdamez committed suicide by kneeling on train tracks and raising her arms to the sky as the locomotive approached.

As American Wire News reported last year, Yaeli was bullied in middle school, and, by the eighth grade, she was beginning to exhibit signs of depression.

“When she started high school, the doors opened to what she was talking about, like transgender, going to meetings, going to all the support that they think they have for these children … which is not,” Martinez said at the time. “The school counselor was involved, DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services) was involved, LGBT was in there too, trying to ‘help’ my daughter on the transition of being transgender.”

Rather than providing meaningful treatment for a mental illness, says Martinez, an LGBTQ support group and the school staff encouraged Yaeli to take hormone treatments and undergo gender reassignment surgery.

Yaeli was instructed not to discuss transgender issues with her mother and had her secretly join an LGBTQ group, where an older trans student “coached” her on what to say to social workers so she could be placed into foster care and succeed in getting the state to pay for her gender reassignment surgery.

Yaeli had attempted suicide at least three times before tragically succeeding in 2019, including an attempt at overdosing while living in an “independent house” the year she died.

“Why are there so many transgender in foster care? Because this state takes them from their families, tells them to run, then steals them,” Martinez told the Judiciary Senate. “Parents are given one option to treat their distressed child: Affirm drugs and remove their healthy body part or else lose your child.”

“The abuse claim against me was finally dropped, but it was too late. The damage was done. By then, my daughter was in horrible mental and physical pain,” she said. “My daughter knelt down in front of a train. She was murdered by gender ideology.”

Through tears, Martinez urged the California Senate to “stop pushing gender ideology.”

“I beg you, stop pushing gender ideology,” she pleaded. “I don’t want any parent to feel what I feel every day. Affirmation is not good for the health, safety, and welfare of any child.”
