Moms want food industry reform: ‘Poison is not partisan’

“Poison is not partisan.”

That’s the message that a group of concerned mothers have for the federal government which they’re calling on to reform the food industry.

Members of the group Moms Across America explained their efforts during an appearance on “The Story” on Fox News this week, telling host Martha MacCallum how they’re trying to raise awareness about the negative effects of GMOs and other toxins on kids.

“I became involved in this fight because I found my two children really struggling with chronic illness, migraines, ADHD and gastrointestinal issues,” Kelly Ryerson, a Moms Across America board member said. “I, myself, have an autoimmune condition. My friends seem to all have autoimmune conditions, and I really started to take a look to see what exactly I am putting in my body.”

Zen Honeycutt, founder of Moms Across America, said that President-elect Donald J. Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy is fighting on behalf of America’s children.

“He has been standing up for Americans for a very long time and what we’re seeing is bipartisan support for this food issue,” she told the host.

The two moms told MacCallum about one chemical that they’re trying to raise awareness about, the weed killer active ingredient glyphosate.

“These pesticides are robbing us of our fertility,” Ryerson told the host. “Very specifically, glyphosate crosses the blood-testes barrier and lands in semen. It kills sperm. So, we wonder why we have sperm counts that are down 50% over the last 50 years.”

The Moms Across America member said that the group sent five vaccines for kids for testing and they had positive results for glyphosate.

“Having watched RFK, Jr. dig through vast piles of data to come to his different decisions on pesticides, I agree that the same thing should happen with any pharmaceutical drug, including vaccines,” Ryerson continued. “If they haven’t been tested, which is what he claims, and he sued on behalf of all of us to this fact, then I think that we need to look into it and see if they’re harmful or not. I mean, that’s just common sense. That shouldn’t be something that’s controversial. Look and see if they’re fine or look at if they’re causing a problem. That’s all.”

Honeycutt reminded members of Congress that “poison is not partisan.”

“Cancer is not choosy,” she added. “It’s time for Democrats and Republicans to come together and vote for a man who is risking his life to protect the health of our children and this country.”

The group describes itself on its website as a “National Coalition of Unstoppable Moms. Our motto is ‘Empowered Moms, Healthy Kids.'”

“We will do this by doing what we do best, CARING about our families and community and SHARING with them about food, GMOs, PESTICIDES, and health,” they said. “We have an opportunity to bring awareness about health issues to our neighbors, communities, and nation and stand together, thousands in our hometowns and million nationally, empowered and unified, for our kids’ healthy future.”

“Who? Moms! Because we buy 85% of the food! It’s up to us! If we don’t buy it, they can’t sell it! Plus, Moms are unstoppable and our only special interest is our family,” Moms Across America states on the website.
