Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) doubled down on her threat to “vacate the chair” if House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) passes the Senate’s “amnesty” border deal in exchange for more money for Ukraine.
“If he passes that Senate border deal — or so-called border deal, it’s really an amnesty deal, where Democrats are going to bring in millions and millions of illegals and turn them into Democrat voters,” Greene told Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures.

“That’s their plan, is to replace Americans with millions and millions of illegal aliens,” Greene said. “And it upsets me so much that this is the deal that Republicans in the Senate are making and they want to do this in exchange for 60 billion more dollars for Ukraine.”
“Our country’s broke,” the outspoken lawmaker said. “We’re like a corporation on the verge of bankruptcy, with 34 trillion dollars in debt. The border crisis is a national security crisis that has Americans everywhere — doesn’t matter how they vote — Americans everywhere are sick and tired and fed up with it.”
As BizPac Review reported, many Republicans see the deal proposed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) as a non-starter.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) called it a “nightmare.”

“It gives legal status to illegal aliens who have gamed our system and broken our laws,” he wrote Saturday on X. “It rolls out the red carpet for 5,000 illegals EVERY DAY, forever.”
According to the Immigration Accountability Project, the bill would:
1) Increase green cards by 50,000/year
2) Work permits for adult children of H-1B holders
3) Immediate work permits to every illegal alien released from custody
4) Taxpayer funded lawyers to certain UACs and mentally incompetent aliens
5) Expulsion authority for a limited number of days ONLY if encounters exceed 5k/day over a seven day period
6) Restricts parole for those who enter without authorization between ports of entryÂ
“We can talk about the numbers and we can talk about all the things that produce daily outrage, but the real situation here is that, the Republican Speaker of the House and any Republican — or really, anyone elected to serve in the United States Congress — should be supporting protecting America’s national security interests, and they would never vote for that deal,” Greene told Bartiromo. “And that’s why I told Speaker Johnson if he made that deal in exchange for 60 billion dollars for Ukraine, I would vacate the chair, and I still stand by those words.”
Greene may not have to make good on her threat.
On Saturday, Johnson issued a two-word statement in response to the deal: “Absolutely not.”

According to an article published on Sunday by Bloomberg, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is confident that Johnson will reject the Senate proposal.
“We’ve got to see the plan, but based on what’s leaked out thus far, there’s no way I’m going to go for that. There’s no way Speaker Johnson’s going to go for that,” Jordan told Bloomberg Television. “There’s no way. This is a waste of time. There’s no way the American people are going to go for that.”

As for calls to vacate the chair, Jordan says Johnson “should stay Speaker Johnson.”
“I was against what happened to Speaker McCarthy,” the Ohioan said. “I thought that was wrong and I don’t think it’s appropriate to do that to Speaker Johnson.”
“We need to deal with the border situation,” Jordan said. “We need to finish the impeachment inquiry and decide if we’re going to move forward with articles. And we need to make sure President Trump wins in November and is our next president. That’s what’s going to be the focus of Republicans this year, because I think that’s what the American people want us to focus on.”
“Let’s work with Speaker Johnson,” Jordan said. “Let’s do what we told the American people what we’re going to do.”
