Nancy Mace accuses ex-fiance of taping gang rape, assault of her and others in gripping House floor speech

In a stunning floor speech, Rep. Nancy Mace on Monday accused four men, including her ex-fiancé, of raping her and a dozen other women.

The Republican congresswoman began by claiming to have in November 2023 found tens of thousands of videos and photos on her ex-fiancé Patrick Bryant’s phone depicting rape and other sexual abuses.

“I accidentally uncovered some of the most heinous crimes against women imaginable — we are talking about rape, nonconsensual photos, nonconsensual videos of women and underage girls, and the premeditated, calculated exploitation of women and girls in my district,” she said.

“Today you will hear about the depraved men behind these gutless, evil acts. These men didn’t just harm their victims; they recorded their depravity as if it were a badge of honor,” she added.

The video/photo content she found contained images of “female employees, wives of male employees, girlfriends and other women who very clearly didn’t know their private parts were being filmed or photographed,” she continued.

The content also included “upskirt photos” of at least one minor.

Mace went on to describe how she discovered one video featuring Bryant and a business associate recording a third man sexually assaulting an “incapacitated woman” — a woman whom she later had to confront with the tragic truth.

“Last year, I had to tell a woman that she’d been raped, and she didn’t even know it,” the congresswoman explained. “She had no idea because she was incapacitated at the time of the rape. I knew she was raped because I accidentally found the video of her being raped.”

“The two of them, the three of them business partners, the two of them had their phones out just like this. Filming her as she was being raped. And she was completely laid out. There was no movement. There was no life. I couldn’t even tell if this young woman was alive,” she added.

At one point, Mace described finding a video of herself “undressed” and “unaware she was being filmed” on Bryant’s phone.

“I turned up the volume to hear if there was audio,” she said. “I heard my voice. I zoomed in on the video. The woman was me. My entire body was paralyzed and I couldn’t move.”

After she made the discovery, Bryant allegedly “physically assaulted” her, forcing her out of their home and “into hiding.”

“I still have the mark Patrick Bryant made on me,” she said. “Rather than see this mark as a scar, I see this scar as the mark of a free woman; free from a monster. This isn’t a story about bitter ex-girlfriends … or consensual sex tapes, there are plenty of those. I don’t care what two consenting adults agree to do. That is the definition of freedom. This is a story about predators who hunt women for sport.”

Mace also claimed that South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, a Republican, waited seven months before launching an investigation.

“South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson — you are not a real man because real men, real men protect women,” she said.

Mace nevertheless vowed during her speech that none of the four men would get away with their alleged crimes.

“None of you will get away with it,” she said. “None of you will because tonight is about justice for all of the women that you all raped, that you all filmed, that you all photographed, that you all abused for years.”

“You have bought yourself a one-way ticket to hell. It is nonstop, there are no connections, so I and all your victims can watch you rot in eternity,” she added.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has since confirmed to The Hill that it opened an investigation into at least one of the four men.

“Since that date, SLED has conducted multiple interviews, served multiple search warrants, and has a well-documented case file that will be available for release upon the conclusion of the case,” the department said.

In a statement made to the New York Times, Bryant, for his part, denied the allegations.

“I categorically deny these allegations,” he said. “I take this matter seriously and will cooperate fully with any necessary legal processes to clear my name.”

South Carolina AG Wilson meanwhile denied that Mace ever reached out to his office about investigating the four men.

“Ms. Mace either does not understand or is purposefully mischaracterizing the role of the Attorney General,” his spokesperson told the New York Post. “At this time, our office has not received any reports or requests for assistance from any law enforcement or prosecution agencies regarding these matters. Additionally, the Attorney General and members of his office have had no role and no knowledge of these allegations until her public statements.”

“Congresswoman Mace and the Attorney General have been at multiple events together over the last six months. She also has the Attorney General’s personal cellphone number. Not once has she approached or reached out to him regarding any of her concerns,” his spokesperson continued.
