NBC throws fit over Elon Musk’s failure to notify Border Patrol of his visit. Did the illegals give warning?

NBC News put some time and energy into trying to ensnare billionaire Elon Busk in an exclusive “gotcha” moment.

The outlet filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. They obtained emails. They decoded redacted text.

Elon Musk, they reported, did not warn U.S. Border Patrol officials that he was going to make a “highly publicized” visit to the U.S. – Mexico border on September 28.

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) joined Musk at a border site near Eagle Pass, a town that has been overwhelmed by the endless sea of migrants.

“He may approach and engage USBP personnel,” one special operations supervisor warned in a Sept. 27 email. “He should be asked to remain on the press side of the area.”

“DHS [Department of Homeland Security] has not received any official request to accommodate Mr. Gonzales or [redacted] at this time,” the email continued. “Please notify DRT [redacted] if any USBP personnel encounter Mr. Gonzales, [redacted] or any other persons that present themselves unannounced.”

Officers, NBC ominously reports, “were caught off guard” when Musk and Gonzales showed up in Eagle Pass.

“Del Rio Sector (DRT) was notified that [redacted] was touring the Eagle Pass [redacted] with US Representative Tony Gonzalez. DRT personnel were not advised prior to arrival,” and official wrote, adding that “multiple Sheriffs from different counties are in attendance as well.”

During his visit, as BizPac Review reported, Musk stressed that he is “pro-immigrant.”

“Let me preface this by also saying that as an immigrant to the United States, I am extremely pro-immigrant, and I believe that we need a greatly expanded legal immigration system and we should let anyone in the country who is hard-working and honest and who will be a contributor to the United States,” he stated in one of his uploaded videos. “But then, by the same token, we should not be allowing people into the country that are breaking the law.”

Over 1.6 million illegal immigrants have been encountered at the U.S.-Mexico border during fiscal year 2023, according to data released by CBP, following 2.2 million encounters in fiscal year 2022 and 1.6 million in fiscal year 2021, while Fox News reported another 600,000 migrants evaded CBP in fiscal year 2022.

On X, users wanted to know if the migrants bothered to warn Border Patrol of their impending arrival.

“Exclusive: US Border officials received no official requests and little warning ahead of the 10,000 illegals visiting the US-Mexico border that same day,” columnist Buzz Patterson snarkily replied to NBC News.

“How dare someone show the people the truth,” quipped another user.

“He went there to see what was going on,” noted a third, “not what the administration WANTS him to see what’s going on.”

“I normally stop reading at the acronym, NBC,” one user confessed. “You got me this time.”
