New Biden admin official defended Rentboy.com, an underage, gay prostitution website raided by the feds

The Biden administration has proven again that it either is really bad at checking the backgrounds of its staffers or that it simply doesn’t care about any potential issues.

President Joe Biden’s new hire at the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy checked off the leftist boxes for the administration but a new report shines a light on a disturbing aspect of appointee Samuel Brinton’s background.

The LGBTQ+ activist was touted as “the first openly gender-fluid person in federal government leadership” when joining the administration to serve as the deputy assistant secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition.

Sporting a red pantsuit and lipstick, Brinton took to Twitter late last month to announce the new job, saying “I was welcomed with open arms into the Department of Energy all the way up to the Secretary whom I shared the stage with in a Pride month celebration panel just today.”

But according to a new report by The National Pulse, Brinton once defended Rentboy.com, an underage, gay prostitution website that shuttered soon after a federal raid in 2015.

The Pulse noted that “Rentboy” is a “colloquial term for young men who have sex with older men in exchange for money, often under dubious circumstances.”

Department of Homeland Security officials raided the New York City offices of Rentboy in 2015 and arrested its chief executive Jeffrey Hurant as well as six employees on charges of promoting prostitution.

“The following year, the CEO of the site, which connected male prostitutes and escorts with potential clients, was indicted on a charge of promoting prostitution which he ultimately pleaded guilty,” the National Pulse report continued.

“The U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of New York’s indictment also revealed the site’s negligence regarding underage sex work, particularly across Asia,” the outlet reported. “It detailed how Rentboy employees described the age verification process as a ‘gray area,’ as they ‘did not always remove advertisements when the advertisers failed to provide identification.'”

This “gray area” reportedly included company employees not acting on the age concerns of the young escorts.

But Brinton defended the website following the raid in an op-ed in Advocate magazine titled: “The Real Ramifications of the Rentboy Raid,” writing that “…sex work disproportionately affects the LGBT community. Transgender people engage in sex work at a rate 10 times that of cisgender (nontrans) women. And many LGBT youth engage in sex work just to survive. A 2013 Center for American Progress report suggests that LGBT youth are more than three times as likely to have engaged in survival sex.”

Brinton contended that “the dissolution of Rentboy is more dangerous than the website ever was.”

“The federal government’s recent attack on Rentboy.com is a devastating assault on some of the most vulnerable members of our community — young adults who, for the first time in their lives, were able to earn a secure living safely through Rentboy after surviving family rejection and homelessness because of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” Brinton wrote.

A member of the Washington, D.C. chapter of “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” a drag queen society, Brinton continued the op-ed, stating: “Rentboy.com may or may not have broken the law. I don’t know, but I do know, from the frantic emails filling my inbox, that the raid on its headquarters has thrown many gay, bisexual, and transgender young adults into turmoil as their main source of income has been ripped away due to irresponsible and archaic views of sex work.”

“The rent boys weren’t harming anyone. But now these young men might have to return to communities and homes which have rejected who they are. And that’s when the real danger begins,” Brinton concluded.

Questions about Brinton’s hiring by the Biden administration have also surfaced.

In a February article after Brinton was hired, the National Pulse noted that the new administration staffer was an ” LGBTQ+ activist who has ‘lectured’ on kink at college campuses and participated in interviews about fetish roleplay. In one interview, Sam Brinton – now a top Biden official – even discusses having sex with animals.”
