Nicki Minaj praises Trump for standing up to Nigeria’s mass slaughter of Christians

President Donald Trump got a word of thanks from an unlikely source after he condemned Nigeria for the “mass slaughter” of Christians.

Rap star Nicki Minaj praised the president in a social media post, sharing a screenshot of his message on Truth Social, where he had called out the violence by “Radical Islamists” against Christians, an accusation that the Nigerian government has denied.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” Trump wrote in last week’s post. “Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!”

Minaj responded by expressing a “deep sense of gratitude” for the president’s stance.

“Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude,” the artist wrote on X.

“We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other,” she added.

“Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to the President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer,” Minaj concluded.

Her post, in turn, got the attention of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz, who thanked her for speaking out.

“We cannot allow this to continue. Every brother and sister of Christ must band together and say, ‘Enough!'” Waltz wrote.

He also invited Minaj to meet with him at the U.S. Embassy to the United Nations to “speak … in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”

“I’d be honored. Thank you, Ambassador,” she replied.

Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, dismissed claims about the genocide in Nigeria.

“For the avoidance of any doubt, and out of respect for all the victims and survivors around the world of this unique and appalling crime against humanity, let the record show that there is no genocide, now or ever, in Nigeria,” the official told Newsweek.

The foreign ministry spokesperson for the African nation, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, responded to Trump’s remarks.

“The United States of America has made its statement on religious freedom. Nigeria has noted,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “We remain committed in our resolve to tackle the violent extremism that is fueled by special interests who have helped drive such decay and division in countries across the intersecting West African and Sahel regions.”

Minaj’s praise of Trump for speaking out earned her plenty of applause on X, where she has nearly 28 million followers.
