Nicole Wallace, MSNBC guest say ‘let’s go Brandon’ chant is the ‘cry of insurrectionists’

MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House” host Nicole Wallace and one of her guests went absurdly out on a limb on Monday to claim that a former Oregon police officer and father of four who said “Let’s go, Brandon,” in a phone call to President Biden last week is an “insurrectionist.”

After Wallace played a viral video clip of Jared Schmeck saying the phrase to Biden during a call when the president was at NORAD’s “Santa tracking center,” she then criticized him for going on Steve Bannon’s podcast after he had been doxxed.

She next played a clip of Schmeck during his appearance on Bannon’s show before bringing in guests Jason Johnson, who hosts the network program “The Week,” and far-left former Democratic U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri to comment.

“Donald Trump is my president and he should still be president right now. The election was 100 percent stolen. So I just want to make that clear,” Schmeck said. “Um but, Let’s go Brandon is more than just ‘F Joe Biden.’ Let’s go Brandon is, it encompasses the entirety of our frustration with Joe Biden, the administration, the leftist mob, the cancel culture, the mainstream media.

“They are the ones who made this a thing. And we’re, we’re able, as conservatives, we are able to find humor in this. But there is terrible things going on,” Schmeck told Bannon.

“In response, Wallace went into a deranged rant about how we shouldn’t look at this as a story about ‘giving air time to a MAGA guy who goes on Steve Bannon’s podcast,’ instead, Wallace wants us to believe that saying ‘let’s go Brandon’ is a ‘slow-motion insurrection,'” Newsbusters noted in describing the segment.

Wallace did not elaborate but rather brought in Johnson who, predictably, doubled down on her “insurrection” claim, saying of Trump supporters: “[T]hese people are basically just insurrectionists in training now.”

“MAGA isn’t about taxes. You know, let’s go Brandon isn’t about what you feel about supply chain issues and gas. It is the cry of insurrectionists,” he claimed. “It is the cry of people who want to violently take over this country and oppress anyone who is not like them.”

But Johnson took his baseless take further, suggesting that Biden order the Justice Department, FBI, and even the CIA to investigate “where the anger that leads to these kinds of statements comes through.”

Earlier, Schmeck insisted that his remark to the president was a “joke,” and that he intended “no disrespect.” That said, NBC News went on to report that because of the remark, the president “was subjected to a right-wing anti-Biden slur during a Christmas Eve call.”

“Biden and the first lady were speaking with families around the country who had called into the North American Aerospace Defense Command to receive an update on Santa’s location when one parent ended the conversation by saying: ‘Let’s go Brandon,’” NBC News reported. “The president did not appear to recognize that the phrase is used by the right-wing as a euphemism for ‘F*** Joe Biden,’ and responded: ‘Let’s go Brandon, I agree.’”
