Transylvania-born, middle-aged twins Gabriela and Mihaela Modorcea are setting off alarm bells for parents and nannies on New York’s Upper East Side.
The disturbing duo, 40, doesn’t have kids of their own, but they keep hanging out at the John Jay Park playground, according to the New York Post, and those with children have called the authorities on them.
The parents and nannies say the twins are “creeping around their kids, eerily engaging them” and “asking invasive questions,” The Post reports, adding that “one caretaker recalled a twin wanting to braid her young charge’s hair and then photograph the tot.”
“It’s really scary,” the caretaker in question said of one of the twins. “Maybe she wants to do something else.”
If the Modorceas are ringing some faint bell, it may be because they are singers and songwriters who perform under the name, “Indiggo Twins.”
One of their songs was sampled on Jay-Z’s Grammy-award-winning “Watch The Throne” album, and the troublesome twosome appeared on “America’s Got Talent” in 2008.

“In 2011, they were photographed kissing Robert De Nero at a Vanity Fair party,” according to The Post.
But the sisters’ brushes with fame have done little to quell the fears on the playground.
Parents went to Community Board 5 and voiced their concerns. The result was a sign posted on the gates outside the playground by the Parks Department that reads, “No adults except in the company of a child.”
Other than violating the new rule, the department has not received notice of any illegal activity involving the twins.
In a local Facebook group, however, moms have been talking about the siblings for months, according to The Post.
One parent stated, “If you’re not with kids, stay out of the playground.”
“Call whoever you have to call to keep our kids safe,” urged another.
Gabriela Modorcea called the concern a “false alarm.”
“We’ve lived here for 16 years,” she said. “For 16 years we’ve gone to John Jay. It’s the closest to us. It’s a completely false alarm.”
As Christians, Gabriela says the allegations against them are shocking.
They are nothing more than a couple of Jesus-following, well-meaning ethereal artists, the twins say, and they always wear clothes that either match or complement each other, despite what the Facebook group says about them.

“The way we look [in the group] – we look like criminals. Hardcore criminals,” Gabriela said. “My weapon is love. We’re Christians, we’re all about promoting love and light.”
“It’s a completely false alarm,” Mihaela said. “It’s the opposite.”
With The Post in tow, the twins were “twirling about the playground this past Wednesday, wearing matching, flowing, multi-colored dresses they designed.”
“Parents skeptically watched them from a distance,” the outlet reports. “Some wheeled their strollers out of the playground after seeing the pair.”
“We love children beyond belief,” Mihaela told The Post. “Once they have spirituality and love is blooming inside their heart they will know how to distinguish who is someone who will harm your child and who is filled with love.”
“It’s challenging, weird times,” Mihaela said, “where people are overly crazy.”
