Parkland father blasts Biden and his ‘politicized FBI’ for using daughter’s death to ‘advance’ their agenda

The father of a Parkland victim is furious over President Joe Biden attempting to use his 14-year-old daughter’s death to push a political agenda.

The attempt was made in a video message that the president shared to Twitter on Tuesday.

The message started out OK enough, with the president mourning the victims of the tragedy.

“It was five years ago. I know it seemed like yesterday to many of you when a lone gunman committed an act of horror and violence at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. We continue to mourn the 14 students who had their whole lives ahead of them and the three educators who showed until the end that teaching and coaching isn’t what they do, it’s who they are,” he said.

“You know, to the survivors who carry the trauma, to the families who lost a piece of their soul, I have some idea how hard it is today. It brings us all back, everybody back, just like you heard the news a moment ago. But what I admire most about all of you, is how you found purpose through your pain,” he added.

But then the president had to make it political.

“The world has already seen how strong you are, how resilient you are, and how giving you are, whether that’s organizing nationwide marches or using your own voices, you’ve helped me take more executive actions to reduce gun violence. than any of my predecessors at this point in their presidencies,” he said.

But what makes him think that every survivor or family member of a survivor supports his draconian gun policies?

“We’ve reined in ghost guns, cracked down on gun trafficking, increased resources for violence prevention. And we stood together as I signed the most significant gun safety law in nearly 30 years,” the president continued.

“But there’s so much more to do. We have to ban assault weapons like the one used in Parkland, and used just five years ago today, and in so many other mass shootings in America. The lives lost, the lives we can save as a nation, we must say enough is enough,” he concluded.

The speech prompted a furious response from Ryan Petty, the father of Alaina Petty, who died during the Parkland high school shooting:

In addition to posting this tweet, Petty also wrote a column for Bearing Arms decrying the Democrats’ latest gun control push in the wake of the Michigan shootings.

In the column, he drew attention to Michigan Rep. Elissa Slotkin’s response to the deadly tragedy.

“I am filled with rage. You either care about protecting kids, or you don’t. Please don’t tell me you care about the safety of children if you are not willing to have a conversation about keeping them safe in a place that should be a sanctuary,” she’d said during a press conference.

Petty pushed back on this rhetoric in his column.

“Unfortunately, it’s Democrats who refuse to engage in conversation, preferring it would seem to pass unconstitutional gun control measures, in defiance of recent rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court, and despite mounting evidence that the gun control measures they back, would have little to no impact on these attacks or in reducing overall gun violence,”  he wrote.

“Why won’t they have an impact? Because they target law-abiding Americans, not the criminals responsible for most gun crimes,” he added.

Exactly. It’s been shown that the gun laws desired by Democrats do nothing to stop criminals from obtaining weapons. That’s why some of the cities with the toughest gun control laws (think Chicago) also have the highest rates of gun violence.

“I challenge Representative [Slotkin] to name one gun control law that would fundamentally change the world we occupy. Name two. Name three. She can’t, so she won’t. In fact, that’s the point. Representative Slotkin is not interested in a conversation about solutions because she’s motivated only by a desire to say she ‘did something’ so she can return to power after the next election,” Petty concluded.
