Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi raised some eyebrows on Saturday at an event to honor a Grateful Dead co-founder.
Dressed up in a bright magenta suit, the self-proclaimed “Deadhead” gave a speech about the late Bob Weir in which she appeared to have a difficult time getting her words out.
“Bobby Weir was not just a magician, musician – a magician too – he was a force of nature,” she said at one point, joking about her own slip of the tongue.

Naturally, Pelosi’s remarks became political at one point.
“[Weir] gave me this sign, and I’ll show it today, because I said Bobby really loved democracy, he loved our country,” she said, holding up a sign that read “Vote.”
“You know what he wanted everybody to do? Vote!” she shouted excitedly.
Meanwhile, artist John Mayer played the classic Grateful Dead song “Ripple,” to the surprise and shock of many:

X users had a lot to say about the former speaker’s presentation, from her eye-catching suit, while most others were mournfully wearing black, to her seemingly impaired way of speaking. One person straight up asked if she was drunk during the event.
