The Red Cross has deleted a sympathetic short film about an Afghan migrant now that said migrant has been outed as an alleged ruthless murderer.
Afghan migrant Sharif Ahmadzai, a 26-year-old professional boxer who arrived in Greece by boat in 2016, has been accused of killing British aid worker Elisabeth-Jane Ross around July 15 and stuffing her body in a suitcase.
Ross’s body was later discovered in the suitcase by a homeless man who found the suitcase itself in an empty building in Athens, according to the BBC.

It’s since been learned that Ahmadzai had teamed up years earlier with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and a London artist to develop a four-minute animated film titled “Game of Life: The Story of Sharif” and released on YouTube in December 2016.
According to the Daily Mail, the film portrayed his escape from Afghanistan as a teenager after his father, a military commander, was killed in an ambush and his mother and siblings died in a suicide bombing in Kabul.
The film described his smuggling route through Iran and Turkey to the Moria refugee camp on Lesbos, including an arrest in Istanbul, and noted his aim of eventually reaching family in the UK.
The Red Cross has confirmed to the Daily Mail that it’s since removed public access to the video out of consideration for Ross’s family while legal proceedings continue.

It’s not yet clear why Ahmadzai allegedly killed Ross or how, though asphyxiation has been cited as the most suspected cause of death. What’s known is that following the woman’s murder, Ahmadzai stole over €10,000 ($11,528) from her bank accounts using her bank cards.
Ahmadzai was outed as a suspect by his wife, American woman and devout Christian Alaina Hall. The two reportedly met Ross while they were volunteering for a refugee charity in Athens back in February.
“Hall claimed that after the three had gone on a walk, her husband remained in touch with Ross for several days,” according to the BBC. “The aid worker is believed to have asked Ahmadzai to help deliver bibles.”
On the night of Ross’s murder, Hall saw a text message from her on Ahmadzai’s phone that read as follows: “Thank you for your intention to come with me.”
“I checked his location on my cell phone,” Hall recalled in a statement. “I saw that he was inside the apartment on Rethymno Street. I was surprised because there was no particular reason for him to be there at that time.”
According to the BBC, she told the authorities that her husband had replied alleging that he was watching football at a café and had headed to Ross’s apartment to use the restroom.
In the days that followed, he acted upset and blamed this state of mind on the alleged death of a relative in India. At one point, he suggested to Hall that they both leave the city for awhile. After they left town, Ahmadzai suddenly cheered up and even bought Hall a new iPhone 17 Pro and gave her €2,550 ($2,940).
“Hall said he could not ‘convincingly’ explain where this money came from,” according to the BBC.
After Ahmadzai’s arrest, he denied killing Ross but claimed he’d found her dead and then panicked.
“I never did harm to anyone,” he reportedly said. “I want you to understand me and believe me. I was just in a panic. [She] was spitting something like water out of her mouth. I spoke to her two or three times but she didn’t respond. I froze. My legs went numb.”
