U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) said over the weekend that she believes the Republican-led House is likely “headed” toward an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden as evidence of alleged Biden family corruption continues to mount, but she warned of the consequences of going down this path.
Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Mace said the GOP is putting their “majority at risk” by jeopardizing moderates who will need to be reelected in districts where President Joe Biden won in 2020.
At the same time, Mace said “the evidence we have seen is overwhelmingly piling up” in favor of impeachment.
Fox News host Shannon Bream said Republican lawmakers like U.S. Rep. Ken Buck, who represents a district in Colorado, are publicly expressing concern and she asked Mace: “So what about this issue of impeachment? Is the party divided?”
“I do believe we are. At this point, an inquiry is different from an impeachment vote and is another tool in the toolbox. But I will tell you, every time we walk the plank, we are putting moderate members, members that won Biden districts, we are putting those seats at risk for 2024,” Mace replied. “We are putting the majority at risk.”
“And it’s not just impeachment that does add other issues like abortion, etc. also put those members on the plank,” she added. “We ought to follow the facts and we have to be better than Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi really politicized the impeachment process. We do not want to do that here. We have to show overwhelming, undeniable evidence in order to move this thing forward. And if we can’t, then we should not.”
“But if we do, then we ought to use every tool in the toolbox to make sure the American people see it for what it is and we can hold everyone accountable,” Mace concluded.
She voiced those same concerns in an interview Saturday with Breitbart News.
“We have to win over independent voters and centrists,” Mace explained. “We have the base, the base is fired up. They are ready to go. But we also have to remember that if we want to win the White House, if we want to keep our majority in the House and then go and flip the Senate, we have to be better than the political games that Pelosi and all her minions have played over the last five years.”
