U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is thriving in his role as a member of President Donald Trump’s cabinet, as he seeks to help Make America Healthy Again.
On that note, RFJ Jr. announced the launch of a new YouTube cooking show, “The Real Food Show,” which premiered on Thursday.
In the first episode, Kennedy is joined by Chef Andrew Gruel as they prepare crispy wild Alaskan salmon cakes with an apple, white bean, and arugula salad at $4.91 per serving. Gruel is a Fox News contributor and city councilman for Huntington Beach, California, where he owns and operates Calico Fish House.
“Thanks to President Trump, we flipped the food pyramid and put real food back at the center of the American plate,” he wrote, while sharing a promo on X. “Now I’m traveling across America, connecting with renowned chefs to show families how to cook delicious, nutritious meals made with real ingredients at affordable prices. Let’s get cooking!”
Welcome to #TheRealFoodShow.
Thanks to President Trump, we flipped the food pyramid and put real food back at the center of the American plate. Now I’m traveling across America, connecting with renowned chefs to show families how to cook delicious, nutritious meals made with… pic.twitter.com/GxYtXzMYtx

Kennedy explained in an interview ahead of the show’s launch that eating healthy can be less expensive than fast food.
“Fast food is not less expensive. That meal costs $12 to $14. People can eat a lot cheaper at home and a lot better food. But many Americans have forgotten how to cook. It’s becoming a lost art,” he said.
RFK Jr. wants to prove healthy eating doesn’t have to be expensive — and he’s launching a new cooking show to make his case.

In addition to teaching families to cook “healthy” meals, RFK Jr. will also focus on budget-friendly recipes.
The first episode can be seen in its entirety here:
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X — including those who hate all things Trump:
I’m all for cooking healthy meals from scratch at home (do it every day myself) but it’s just a lie to say you can whip up a meal for less than $5. 🤥
Also, if Secretary Kennedy wants to do a cooking show, or a podcast, or something other than his actual job, he should RESIGN.

It’s all TV. Narcissism. Trump hired 30 Fox producers, pundits & personalities to his admin. Cabinet meetings don’t get serious work done. They’re TV spectacles.
None qualified for the jobs they hold—but they were hired to make a reality TV Show.

people will find a way to hate this because it’s attached to this administration, many of us don’t share that same mental-midgetry. thanks for putting something positive out to influence people’s food habits

At age 73, I have completely changed what I eat and the way I cook. Thank you @SecKennedy for all you’ve done for the health of America and especially for our children.

It would be great if cooking was taught again in schools. He’s right that a lot of people simply don’t know the skill of cooking. Of course it’s hard when you don’t understand how to be efficient at making good tasting food from scratch. It used to be taken for granted you knew…
