The anti-American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has sued President Donald Trump over his deportation plans.
The suit was filed Wednesday, a day after the Trump Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a new rule authorizing expedited removals for illegal aliens who are unable to prove that they’ve been in the country for at least two full years.
“The Administration’s decision to expand expedited removal to a vast group of noncitizens living anywhere in the United States disregards nearly three decades of experience showing that the expedited removal process, even when used at the border for new arrivals, is rife with errors and results in widespread violations of individuals’ legal rights,” the suit reads.
The ACLU has challenged Trump’s expedited removal reg, saying it “disregards nearly 3 decades of experience showing… the expedited removal process, even when used at the border for new arrivals, is rife with errors and results in widespread violations of… legal rights.”

Filed in Washington, D.C.’s federal district court, the suit alleges that Trump’s expedited removals violate U.S. immigration laws, as well as the constitutional due process rights of illegals.
“The Trump administration wants to use this illegal policy to fuel its mass deportation agenda and rip communities apart,” ACLU senior staff attorney Anand Balakrishnan said in a statement. “Expanding expedited removal would give Trump a cheat code to circumvent due process and the Constitution, and we are again here to fight it.”
“People living in communities all across the United States are at risk of being separated from their families and expelled from the country with no legal recourse. This is an attack on communities, our Constitution, and fundamental American values,” he added.
They’re really not, though. Not unless they’ve committed some sort of crime, aside from illegal entry into the United States.
Border czar Tom Homan confirmed to Fox News on Wednesday that immigration authorities are “out there right now looking for the most serious public safety threats,” i.e., illegals with records.

The ACLU’s primary beef with the expedited removals is that it robs illegal aliens of due process rights:
“The policy targets immigrants nationwide who cannot prove they have been in the country continuously for two years or more. Due process requires they get a fair hearing, which this rule strips from them,” an ACLU press release explains.
“Under this rule, immigrants who have been integrated into and contribute to our communities would get less due process contesting their deportation than they would contesting a traffic ticket,” the press release continues.
The problem, of course, is that illegal aliens shouldn’t have due process rights because they’re here illegally!
In its suit, the ACLU is representing Make the Road New York, a progressive illegal immigration nonprofit.
“Everyone in this country is entitled to due process — it is one of the core tenets of our government,” the group’s co-executive director, Arlenis Morel, said in a statement.
“To fast track the deportation of people who have entered this country to find safety and build a life for themselves and their families, without even a chance to see a judge, will only sow fear in immigrant communities and increase the terror of being separated from loved ones forever,” she added.
The @ACLU, and the @NYCLU today sued the Trump administration over its plan to massively expand fast-track deportations without a fair legal process.

Meanwhile, as the left continues to whine and complain, President Trump is moving forward with his agenda by recruiting more federal agencies to aid in the upcoming mass deportations.
“The Trump administration is attempting to amass a larger force of law-enforcement officials to help carry out deportations by granting agents across the federal government the same powers as an immigration officer,” The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing an internal memo.
“The memo, sent by acting Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman, says DHS is granting immigration-enforcement authority to several agencies at the Justice Department, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Marshals Service,” the Journal’s reporting continued.
