San Franciscan posts what it’s like to walk to work along terrifying streets in the heart of the city

Shocking video footage from San Francisco streets was shared by a social media user documenting the terrifying walk to work along trash-infested sidewalks littered with the homeless.

In a pre-dawn walk to work in the city’s Tenderloin district, a TikTok user named Freqmeek captured on video what words alone cannot describe. The squalor of trash-covered streets with the seemingly endless trail of desperate addicts, lying unconscious on the ground or huddled over, stretched as far as the eye could see in the video shared last week.

“The anxiety we experience just traveling to work daily in the Tenderloin is unbelievable,” the TikTok user wrote in a caption over the roughly two-minute video clip.

“This is overwhelming and mentally draining,” she lamented. “Not to mention the dangers of the unpredictable nature of this environment.”

@freqmeek San Francisco Tenderloin Area Effects of The Fentanyl Crisis and The People Affected By This Epidemic. Where is our protection ? There are so many concerns and protections in place for drug users and homeless people but what about the working class that have to pray that they make it to and from work in this environment. These are real dangers faced every single day just to be able to provide for your family . They got money for war but can’t feed the poor. These elected officials both republican and democrats continue to fail the people. No humanity.. We have a crisis right here in our backyard and we’re funding wars in other countries .. #fyp #communityleader #dreamkeeper #sf #mayorlondonbreed #govgavinnewsom #fentanylkills #fentanylcrisis #opiobsessed #anxiety #relief #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #homeless #community #change #addiction #protect #humanity #safety #cityofsf #49ers #gsw #gswarriors #tragedy #crisis #epidemic #warondrugsfailure #electedofficials #sfblogger #culture #lifeinsf #mentalhealthmatters #accesstohealthcare #shaderoom #hollywood #joebiden #kamalaharris #sfpd #help #humanity #failedgovernment #politics ♬ original sound – FreqMeek

“The tenderloin was rough but it was never like this, never, and I was born and raised here so this is not the same scene pre-pandemic,” she said in response to comments. “Imagine the children and senior population having to navigate this, it’s definitely terrifying.”

According to Daily Mail:

The Tenderloin district is in the heart of San Francisco and near the Asian Art museum. It’s just a few blocks from City Hall. The area also includes part of the Compton Transgender Cultural District.

Robberies are up 14 percent so far this year in the Golden Gate City where mayor London Breed last month demanded cuts of 18 percent from next year’s police budget.

Reported deaths from drug overdoses reached 620 in the first nine months of the year, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, up from 540 for the same period in 2020.

This comes amid a veritable exodus of retailers from the area, as stores such as Whole Foods, Nordstrom, Old Navy and Office Depot have shuttered locations due to concerns for the safety of employees and the loss of business.

“Where is our protection?” the TikTok user asked in a caption accompanying the sobering video.

“There are so many concerns and protections in place for drug users and homeless people but what about the working class that have to pray that they make it to and from work in this environment. These are real dangers faced every single day just to be able to provide for your family,” the caption continued.

“They got money for war but can’t feed the poor. These elected officials both republican and democrats continue to fail the people. No humanity. We have a crisis right here in our backyard and we’re funding wars in other countries,” she added.
