The director of an Arkansas school has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for her role in a child “fight club.”
Mary Tracy Morrison, a 51-year-old woman, was the director and owner of The Delta Institute for the Developing Brain and the Engage program in Jonesboro, Arkansas, but on Monday, a judge handed down a sentence that will likely change the course of her life completely. After pleading guilty to one count of permitting child abuse and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, Morrison was sentenced to 30 days behind bars and 120 days of house arrest and electric monitoring, with an additional nine years of probation.
She was arrested in April 2025 after a mother reported that her child was being mentally and physically abused while at school. Prosecutors alleged that Morrison positioned herself as the “ringleader” of a juvenile fight club, alleging in the probable cause affidavit that video evidence showed how she “instructed the child to sit on the floor while being surrounded on the outside of a circle by 18 other juvenile students and Dr. Morrison.” She reportedly instructed other students to attack the child in the center of the circle, including hitting them with an “unknown object,” while she verbally abused the student. At one point, another student could be seen choking and kicking the victim student, after which Morrison was seen “giving the juvenile a high five, displaying her pleasure with the student’s actions.”
Deputies claimed the violent incident lasted for about 30 minutes, and at the end, the child was “instructed to apologize to all other students” and to never talk about what had happened.
Also arrested in connection with the crime were Michael Bean, 38, Kristin Bell, 36, and Kathrine Lipscomb, 45, all school employees.
In addition to her sentence, Morrison was also “prohibited her from working with children in any professional capacity and ruled she must surrender her occupational therapy license and any other related licenses, complete a mental health assessment and follow all recommended treatments,” according to Fox News.
