Seattle is on the verge of electing to office as mayor a millennial socialist who reportedly still collects allowance from mommy and daddy.
Katie Wilson is her name, and as of Monday, she’d taken the lead in Seattle’s mayoral race that was held last Tuesday.
“Seattle mayoral candidate Katie Wilson is now ahead in this nail-biter of an election count,” station KUOW reported late Monday. “Incumbent Bruce Harrell had been ahead on Election Day by just over 7 points, his lead dramatically reduced by Friday night.”
SEATTLE!!!
We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to “cure” ballots so they count! We’re so close!

If elected as mayor, Wilson, 43, would be the leftist city’s first-ever democratic socialist leader, not to mention the city’s first leader to still receive money from their parents.
“Wilson presents herself as … [someone who] has lived a mostly working-class life,” KUOW notes. “But not included in the narrative Wilson tells on the campaign trail is how she affords this expensive city. The answer is simple, and arguably very Seattle: Her parents, professors in New York State, give her money.”
“They send me a check periodically to help with the child care expenses,” Wilson openly admitted to the outlet. “Before I decided to run for office, my husband and I were just kind of juggling our kid back and forth. We didn’t have her in daycare because it’s so expensive. But then when I decided to run, we’re like, we really need childcare.”
OH MY GOD
Socialist Seattle mayoral candidate Katie Wilson was just outed by KUOW as a nepo baby whose parents, New York professors, send her regular checks. She wouldn’t say how much the checks are for. As she dupes actual poor people into thinking she knows their plight. pic.twitter.com/ei5h8dzBYU

But despite receiving this help that most people her age aren’t fortunate enough to have available, she isn’t remotely ashamed or bothered.
“It just speaks to how expensive and unaffordable it is, right?” she said. “If you’re lucky enough to have parents who can pitch in a little bit, that’s not something to be embarrassed about.”
Maybe, but incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell views things differently. For instance, his reelection website features a scathing quote from former Seattle King County NAACP president Carolyn Riley-Payne.
“It’s hard to trust a candidate running on their challenges with affordability when her family’s wealth shields her from actual consequences and financial stress,” the quote reads. “Wilson chose to not graduate from college, and now chooses to rely on parental subsidy to avoid financial hardship.”
And that’s another thing — she reportedly dropped out of Oxford University just weeks before her graduation, and all debt-free thanks once again to the help of her parents.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, Wilson’s campaign fiercely defended her history.
“Families from all different kinds of economic backgrounds support each other in all different kinds of ways,” a spokesperson said.
“Katie Wilson’s experience — as a working mom who lives in a one-bedroom apartment with her husband and two-year old-daughter and recently received a small amount of financial support from her middle-class parents to help pay for childcare in one of the most expensive cities in the country while she ran for mayor — is far less of an aberration than that of the incumbent mayor Bruce Harrell, who lives in a 7,000 square foot house and has a net worth in excess of $15 million,” they added.
In other words, Wilson is supposedly better than Harrell because Harrell is rich. Never mind that Harrell built his wealth through his legal career in the private sector, strategic investments in stocks and real estate, pension income from public service, and his wife’s Microsoft job.
