Secret data from large public school district shows two-year, 582% increase in gender non-conforming students

Internal data from Maryland’s largest public school district, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) reveals a 582% increase over the past two years in students who are identifying as gender nonconforming.

The information, which until now has not been publicly available to parents or taxpayers, was revealed — perhaps, unintentionally — by Quince Orchard High School acting assistant principal Elicia Eberhart-Bliss, who posted to her Twitter account a slide that was used at a district “Pride ALLiance” meeting.

“Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) gathered this data from forms school counselors fill out when students approach them to talk about gender identity issues,” reports the Daily Caller. “Because the numbers rely on self-reporting, the near-sevenfold increase from 2019 to 2022 could indicate a massive increase in the number of gender-diverse students, an environment that encourages those students to be more open with counselors or both.”

Gender nonconformity was reported by a total of 35 students during the 2019-2020 school year. That number rose to 239 students over the 2021-2022 school year. Of those 239 children, 18 were in elementary school (compared to just four during the 2019-2020 school year). Among high school students, the number jumped from 12 high schoolers in 2019-2020 to 92 students during 2021-2022.

But perhaps the most alarming data comes from middle school children who, in both school years, represented the largest number of kids claiming to be gender non-conforming. Nineteen middle schoolers self-identified as gender non-conforming in 2019-2020, compared to 129 kids in 2021-2o22.

According to parent and conservative activist Bethany Mandel, the data is indicative of an “explosion” of “confused” children.

“This isn’t data that the outside world has seen before; it was accidentally shared and is incredibly illuminating,” she told the Daily Caller. “There is a clear explosion of gender-confused children year-over-year, and it’s clear the majority of those are legitimately children, middle school and below. ”

“This isn’t just a Montgomery County problem,” she continued, “it’s nationwide; we were just able to get a glimpse of the data here.”

The reasons for the spike in the data may have something to do with the quietly edited definition of “transgender.” In recent years, wrote evolutionary biologist Colin Wright, “transgender” has become synonymous with “gender nonconforming,” meaning that if a young boy plays with a Barbie doll or a little girl prefers Hotwheels to My Pretty Pony, they now fall under the “transgender” umbrella.

Those who now use this expanded definition include the American Medical Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and, naturally, Planned Parenthood.

“It is urgent that we all fully understand that the definition of transgenderism used by our most highly regarded scientific, medical, and human rights institutions now literally encompasses common gender nonconformity, and this is the main reason so many children are now claiming to be transgender,” Wright wrote in an August Substack post.

But according to some users on Twitter, the numbers may have more to do with COVID-19, and the Daily Caller is failing to provide context to the data.

“In 2019-2020 35 students filled out this form,” tweeted one user. “In 2021-2022 239 students filled out this form.”

“That is to say more students started using the form when they returned to in-person school. This article never mentions school closures, COVID, the pandemic or anything,” he continued.

“Instead of even suggesting that the return to in-person school might be, at the very least, a contributing factor to the numbers, the article instead turns to @bethanyshondark to argue that what’s happening is ‘an explosion of gender-confused children’.”

But according to another user, the numbers reflect something far more insidious.

“They are poisoning the hearts, minds and souls of these kids,” the user stated. “Lord Jesus protect these babies from this evil.”
