Sen. Mike Lee asks a great question about Mexico sending lawyers to US

Amid reports that the Mexican government is sending hundreds of lawyers to the United States to assist illegal immigrants who may face deportation under President-elect Donald J. Trump, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) shared an interesting question.

Lee asked in a post on X, “If Mexico is sending hundreds of lawyers to help illegal aliens remain in the U.S., why are we letting them in?”

Of course, with President Joe Biden having all but checked out, physically and mentally, whoever’s running the country right now is not about to intervene, given that they are also the architects of the massive invasion of 10-plus million illegal immigrants over the past 4 years.

Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum’s government announced on Monday that it will “defend” the “human rights” of those who entered the U.S. illegally, assuring them that they “will not be alone.”

“The Mexican government, through its consular network in the United States, will defend the human rights of its citizens in accordance with international law,” Mexico said in a press release. “Its legal protection program now includes 329 legal advisors, along with voluntary support from consultants and law firms across the country, announced Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente during his presentation of the legal defense and assistance programs already available at all 53 consulates in the U.S.”

The foreign secretary said in addition to consulates in the U.S. having “developed a local action plan with specific recommendations for Mexican citizens,” an app was created so illegal migrants can alert the nearest consulate of imminent immigration enforcement actions.

“The President has also instructed us to focus on direct community engagement, which we have already begun,” de la Fuente said. “I have personally attended several open meetings where the key message is to tell our fellow citizens that they are not alone and will not be alone.”

According to the Mexican government, there are 38.4 million Mexicans in the United States, with 4.8 million in the country illegally.

As for the interest in helping illegal immigrants remain in America, the press release noted that those in America “sent more than 60 billion dollars in remittances to their families in Mexico while also making substantial tax contributions to the U.S. economy.”

Trump suggested in a Nov. 27 Truth Socisl post that he had a “productive conversation” with the new Mexican president on immigration.

He posted, “Just had a wonderful conversation with the new President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. She has agreed to stop Migration through Mexico, and into the United States, effectively closing our Southern Border. We also talked about what can be done to stop the massive drug inflow into the United States, and also, U.S. consumption of these drugs. It was a very productive conversation!”

Trump will have his hands full when it comes to following through on his promise to deport illegal immigrants, and it’s a certainty that his supporters are expecting it to happen.

As for Sen. Lee, his question prompted plenty of other questions, of which he attempted to answer some of them — here’s a quick sampling of responses, as seen on X:
