Senate Dem ‘thought leader’ John Fetterman calls for Menendez to resign

In a sign that crooked Democrat Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) is in trouble after he was indicted for bribery, the new face of the party and its apparent intellectual thought leader, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) called for him to resign.

On Friday, Menendez and his wife were charged by the feds after it was revealed that FBI agents discovered hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and gold bars in their New Jersey home, money that came from an alleged political influence-peddling scheme involving Egypt.

Following the announcement of the indictment, the second time that the left-wing senator has faced federal corruption charges, Fetterman, who has dominated headlines this week after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) changed the upper chamber’s dress code in order to accommodate his the entitled one’s slobbishness, said that it’s time for Menendez to step down and focus on his legal troubles.

“Senator Menendez should resign,” Fetterman – or more likely, a staffer – wrote on X. “He’s entitled to the presumption of innocence, but he cannot continue to wield influence over national policy, especially given the serious and specific nature of the allegations. I hope he chooses an honorable exit and focuses on his trial.”

While Schumer reacted to the indictment by praising Menendez as a “dedicated public servant” who is “always fighting hard for the people of New Jersey” in a testament to the moral emptiness of the top Senate Democrat, other leftist politicians have called for his resignation.

“The allegations in the indictment against Senator Menendez and four other defendants are deeply disturbing. These are serious charges that implicate national security and the integrity of our criminal justice system,” New Jersey’s Democrat Governor Phil Murphy said in a statement. “The alleged facts are so serious that they compromise the ability of Senator Menendez to effectively represent the people of our state. Therefore, I am calling for his immediate resignation.”

In the House, Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) who has called for President Joe Biden to step aside in favor of a younger candidate, expressed his view that Senator Menendez needs to go.

Reps. Andy Kim and Mikie Sherrill, two House members from New Jersey called for Menendez’s resignation as well as former Rep. Tom Malinowski.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder aka Obama’s wingman who remains an influential figure in Democrat circles also called for Menendez to quit.

“As both a leader in the Democratic Party & the former Attorney General and given the nature of the charges, I call upon Senator Menendez to resign,” Holder wrote on X. “The nation will be better served if he steps aside and allows a transition to occur that will best serve the people of New Jersey.”

Fetterman is the first Democrat Senate member to call for Menendez to resign and with his rock star status guaranteeing that he’ll get plenty of media attention, it will likely only be a matter of time until others get in line behind their intellectual leader.
