The altercation took place at approximately 2 pm on Aug. 11 at a home near Garvey and Pyle Roads.

The 54-year-old woman was home alone when 42-year-old Jayson Magrum reportedly tried to get into the home, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

When she realized what was happening, the woman yelled at the convicted Utah sex offender to leave but he was not deterred and kept trying to get in.

“The female armed herself with a handgun and fired a shot out of a window to attempt to scare the male away,” investigators stated, according to Fox 10 Phoenix.

The Arizona woman didn’t hesitate to take matters into her own hands when she saw Magrum trying to gain access to the home. She fired a shot out the window to try and scare him off. He attempted to grab the gun from her and she swiftly fired at him, hitting the man, according to Fox 10 Phoenix.

The sex offender staggered off toward the driveway, where he collapsed and died.

His intended victim was not hurt during the incident.

An investigation is being conducted but the unidentified woman has not been arrested and is reportedly not being charged after acting in self-defense.

Magrum was a registered sex offender on the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Offender Watch website.

He was convicted in Utah of attempted forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Magrum was also convicted of aggravated domestic violence in Pima County in 2014. He was sentenced to six months in prison.

The incident could have gone very wrong for the woman, but because she was armed and knew how to use a gun, she came out of it unscathed.

Unfortunately for a woman from Mississippi who was visiting California, things did not have that kind of happy ending and she wound up dead and wrapped in plastic in a Los Angeles home, according to Fox News.

According to police, a Los Angeles mother horrifically found a woman’s body wrapped in plastic while investigating a “gas smell” in her son’s room on August 13.

The deceased woman was reportedly Hannah Rachel Collins of Mississippi. She was in Los Angeles to visit friends. She arrived in June and was expected to return home in August. She had just celebrated her 30th birthday on Aug. 1 according to her mother who spoke with Fox News Digital. The last time she spoke with her family was on August 7.

For some unknown reason, the police have not released the identity of the Hispanic 26-year-old man whose room the woman was found in. The police have also not released any information concerning how Collins wound up in the home, how she died, or if she knew the man.

LAPD Homicide Detective Ryan Rabbett told Fox News Digital in an interview that Collins’ death is “being handled as an Undetermined Death Investigation pending an autopsy and full toxicology.”

“Although Los Angeles Department of the Medical Examiner completed Collins’ autopsy around 1:50 a.m., according to public information specialist Kelly Vail, determining her cause of death could take ‘four to six months’ pending additional investigation and toxicology testing requested by detectives. Vail said the office could not disclose the nature of the tests ordered,” Fox News outrageously reported.

Collins’ mother spoke with Fox News Digital but did not want to be identified. She said she was informed of her daughter’s death by the medical examiner’s office around 8:15 am on Aug. 14. She hasn’t heard from detectives at the Los Angeles Police Department concerning the murder.

“Someone murdered my daughter – that’s homicide,” the devastated mother said on Thursday. “Someone wrapped her in [plastic] wrap, someone did that to her… I don’t understand why his name is kept a secret.”

“I don’t even know how long she was dead,” she tearfully added. “Did his mother give him time to run, then call [police]? Something is not right here.”

Collins was “raised in church and was very kind, thoughtful and would do anything to help anyone,” her mother sadly commented. “Very smart, artistic, and outgoing.”
