According to longtime investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson, Dr. Anthony Fauci is a stone-cold liar — and she can prove it.
In a tweet posted Friday, Attkisson revealed that while Fauci, then a member of the Trump administration, was publicly describing COVID-19 as “ten times deadlier than [the] flu” in 2020, he was privately singing a different tune.
“[H]e actually co-published a scientific paper stating the opposite: Covid was about like a bad flu season,” Attkisson wrote.

She wasn’t wrong. On Feb. 28, 2020, Fauci published a paper, “Covid-19 — Navigating the Uncharted,” in the New England Journal of Medicine. In the paper, he wrote the exact opposite of what he’d later go on to say publicly.
“If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%,” he wrote about the coronavirus.
“This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively,” he added.
This paragraph directly contradicted what Fauci later said in congressional testimony and media appearances, which was that COVID-19 was roughly 10 times deadlier than the seasonal flu.
In her tweet, Attkisson added that she’d tried to interview him about the paper, but to no avail.
“At the time, I called his office for an interview — and although he was never shy, he wouldn’t agree to an interview with me,” she explained. “I then asked his office to explain which of his statements was correct. One or the other had to be false, by definition. Fauci’s office declined to answer.”
Attkisson’s bombshell reveal comes following the decision Thursday by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard to publish a treasure trove of “communications and documents” exposing Fauci.

According to Gabbard, the documents expose “how Dr. Fauci provided millions in US taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, worked with politicized elements within the Intelligence Community to suppress the truth about his actions and hide the virus’ lab-leak origins, and lied to Congress while under oath in 2024.”
The DNI’s tweet linked to a press release containing more details about how Fauci “provided millions in US taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV)—work which is now widely viewed as the source of the unintentional lab leak that sparked the pandemic.”
Later Saturday morning, Attkisson published two new tweets containing a roadmap of how she believes Fauci’s whole shtick worked.

Her conclusion was that the COVID-19 pandemic “was a result of primarily US funded vaccine research” that was authorized by Fauci — and that following COVID’s explosion, Fauci and crew did everything in their power to hide their tracks, including lie!
