Slugga: Democrats seem determined to prove that they’re the party of screechy cat ladies

The Democratic Party has a major problem on its hands, and it couldn’t have been more obvious than during Tuesday’s Senate Armed Services Committee confirmation hearing for Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth.

As the first hearings for President-elect Donald J. Trump’s nominees kicked off with obstructionist Dems having thrown up “paperwork” roadblocks to make the Fox News personality the prime – and only – attraction of the day, their plan to smear and destroy him jumped the tracks early on during a day that quickly devolved into a clown show featuring the screechy women who have become dominant in the party.

If Senate Democrats were looking to scuttle Hegseth’s hopes of heading up the Pentagon, then the day was a miserable failure with the gaggle of shrill harpies led by failed presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand losing their composure in a way that only confirms the worst stereotypes of liberal women – bitchy, bossy and completely incapable of controlling their emotions.

In a nutshell, they came across like unhinged cat ladies.

Whatever Chuck Schumer may have been thinking by basing his attack strategy on Warren, Hirono, Duckworth, and Gillibrand being able to get under Hegseth’s skin isn’t clear. Still, their histrionics were so embarrassing that they likely had the opposite effect, not giving cover to the Republican women who Dems were counting on—Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and maybe Joni Ernst—to deal an early blow to Trump. It’s hard to see how Hegseth isn’t confirmed.

Longtime Democrat strategist James Carville caught hell last year when he dared to suggest that too many overbearing feminists in the party were alienating male voters.

“A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females” who have taken control of the party, Carville said to the New York Times’s Maureen Dowd in an interview.

“If you listen to Democratic elites — NPR is my go-to place for that — the whole talk is about how women, and women of color, are going to decide this election. I’m like: ‘Well, 48 percent of the people that vote are males. Do you mind if they have some consideration?’” The old coot turned out to be right because after Nancy Pelosi stole Joe Biden’s nomination and replaced him with Kamala Harris, she was as warmly received as the Ebola virus by male voters, and they decisively broke for Trump.

The party’s post-Hillary incarnation has become an increasingly shrill turn-off to men and the Hegseth hearing is a perfect example of why.
