‘I mean, you lost whites?! Whites!’ Jesse Watters exclaims GOP coalition has ‘totally collapsed’

Among those expressing disbelief at the extent of Republican election losses was Fox News host Jesse Watters.

During a discussion Wednesday on the midterm bloodbath on “The Five,” Watters exclaimed that the GOP’s voter coalition had “totally collapsed,” despite first attempting to find a silver lining.

Though Democrats rode to victory Tuesday, securing the majority in both chambers of Congress, Watters offered that perhaps Republican losses would create “a bigger lane for a strong, untainted America-first patriot to ride into the next battle and just crush it.”

However, he soon admitted that although “we’ve been here before,” the GOP defeat across the nation in key demographics was a “severe spanking.”

“I’ve been in the minority before, so I know how to deal with it. These things ebb and flow; peaks make valleys,” he said.

“But this was a spanking. I mean, this was a severe spanking, which is also a form of punishment. So maybe Republicans learned their lesson that if you’re going to make life more expensive for people, you have to be able to sell it.  And if you can’t sell it, you’re going to pay for it,” he continued.

“The trade war and the Iran war are noble goals, but it’s a five-year deal,” Watters said. “And if you’re gonna make people who are young, struggling, living paycheck to paycheck have to pay more for stuff and make it harder for them to climb the ladder, it’s not gonna go well.”

The Fox News host went on with a more detailed assessment of election results.

“The only people he really won are people over 65, and those are people who have a home, invested in the stock market, and can kind of see the big picture. But the coalition’s totally collapsed,” he noted.

“I mean, you lost whites?! Whites! You can’t do that if you’re a Republican,” Watters exclaimed. “Men! Hispanics — big time! And so it’s gonna take a while to put the coalition back together, because it was in the heartland.”

He explained that China exerted pressure on President Donald Trump in the trade war by not buying crops from American farmers. Coupled with the effects of the Iran war and the squeeze on the Strait of Hormuz, the rising cost of fertilizer and diesel fuel led to the move to vote blue.

“So it will take some time, and the president took a bullet for us; he’s a legend, God love him,” concluding that the GOP base had many things they were discontented about.

“Ripe environment for a drubbing, but these things go up and down,” he said.
