When President Gerald Ford pardoned his predecessor Richard Nixon for any criminal actions he may have committed as part of the Watergate scandal, Ford argued that it was for the good of the nation as a whole.
But there does not appear to be any such sentiment on the part of President Joe Biden when it comes to pardoning former President Donald Trump.
Amid Trump’s ongoing legal problems, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Biden on Monday about a pardon, with the question being prompted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis saying recently on the “Clay and Buck” radio show that he’d consider pardoning Jan. 6 defendants — when asked if that would extend to Trump, the popular Republican governor said, “I would say any example of disfavored treatment based on politics or weaponization would be included in that review, no matter how small or how big.”
“Where are you on the idea of a president pardoning Trump?” Doocy called out as Biden was about to board Marine One for Delaware.
After cracking a broad grin, the president waved off the inquiry as he walked away. He then turned and said, “I’ll see you guys … a great question.”

It’s a fair argument to say Donald Trump is the most persecuted political figure in modern American history, but he has yet to be convicted of any crimes.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged the former president with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records last month in connection with hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal ahead of the 2016 election — an action widely seen as political retaliation.
There is also a special counsel investigation looking into Trump’s alleged role in inciting the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol and his possession of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. He faces potential charges in Georgia as well for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election result in that state.
