‘Someone get him an ice cream cone!’ Joe Biden pins presidential hopes on ‘junk fees’

The world is on the brink of WWIII. American cities are crippled by crime, illegal migrants, homelessness, and fentanyl.

And if Joe Biden is re-elected as President of the United States, he will make certain that Ticketmaster doesn’t screw you out of a few extra bucks when you go to a Taylor Swift concert.

Because that’s the kind of leader Joe Biden is.

“Each year, hidden junk fees cost Americans tens of billions of dollars, weighing down family budgets and making it harder for people to pay their bills,” POTUS tweeted on Sunday. “My Administration is taking action to eliminate these fees. For families, that’s more money back in your pocket.”

While few would argue that hidden fees — those extra suspicious charges that get tacked on to nearly everything we consume — suck, many felt the president’s priorities were more than a little misguided.

“How about lowering inflation,” one Twitter user suggested. “This isn’t more money in people’s pockets when we can’t even afford to go to a concert or event. You have the price of oil so high we can’t go anywhere.”

“You’re a lying old man,” the user charged. “Go back to your nursing home. Someone get him an ice cream cone!”

But President Biden remains undeterred in his quest for pricing transparency.

“Junk fees are not a matter for the wealthy very much but they’re a matter for working folks like the homes I grew up in and they can add hundreds of dollars a month and make it harder for families to pay their bills,” he stated during a recent “Protecting Consumers” press conference.

“In my State of the Union Address, I outlined our fight against junk fees — to end junk fees: these hidden charges that companies sneak into your bill to make you pay more and without you really knowing it initially,” the president boasted.

Biden continued:

My administration has also taken a number of steps to crack down on junk fees by reducing overdrafts by $5.5 billion a year and bounced checks cost by another $2 billion a year.  That’s real money.

And we’re seeking to require airlines to refund money and give you additional compensation, like cash or travel vouchers, if your flight is canceled or delayed.

These actions matter, and it’s inspiring companies to change their practices.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) called the President’s platform “genius.”

“The genius of Joe Biden’s presidency has been to deliver changes that people feel every day,” she told the Daily Beast. “It’s politically smart, but it’s also the right thing to do. To show people that government can be on the side of people, not just always helping out big corporations.”

The one-time Biden opponent praised her leader’s $35 cap on insulin and efforts to forgive student loans as proof of how in-tune the president is with what is weighing on the minds of American voters.

“And now junk fees,” she added.

But will junk fees be enough for Biden to hold on to the White House, given that, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted this month, “A majority of the public (62%) say they disapprove of Joe Biden’s job performance as president, with 41% who strongly disapprove.”

The survey reveals, “Inflation, health care affordability, partisan cooperation, drugs and violence lead public’s list of top national problems.”

Junk fees didn’t even make the list.

As one Twitter user stated, “The portion of our taxes that goes to Kamala and your salary is a junk fee on the American people.”
