Sour Colorado official assails Clarence and Ginni Thomas after SCOTUS smackdown

The Supreme Court’s ruling that former President Donald Trump can remain on the Colorado ballot had one Democrat state official taking out her frustrations on the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

During an MSNBC appearance, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold whined about the high court’s ruling in the 14th Amendment case as it overturned the decision by the state’s Supreme Court which ruled that Trump’s name would not appear on the ballot because of the alleged role he played in the January 6, 2021, events at the U.S. Capitol.

Griswold expressed her “disappointment” with the unanimous Supreme Court decision while speaking with MSNBC’s host Katy Tur and doubled down on her rhetoric that Trump is an “insurrectionist” despite not being convicted as one.

“My larger reaction is disappointment,” Griswold said Monday. “I do believe that states should be able under our constitution to bar oath-breaking insurrectionists.”

“Ultimately, this decision leaves open the door for Congress to act to pass authorizing legislation, but we know that Congress is a nearly non-functioning body,” she added. “So ultimately, it will be up to the American voters to save our democracy in November.”

When Tur asked Griswold if she thought the nation’s highest court was “partisan,” the Democrat brought up Thomas’ wife, Virginia “Ginni” Thomas.

“I think this court has had obviously some pretty big issues,” Griswold said. “Whether it has been Clarence Thomas’ wife’s role, gifts that have gone unreported, and there are some pretty big decisions that have come out of the court that I highly disagree with, and I think strip Americans of our basic human rights and fundamental freedoms.”

“With that said, we live in a country of rule of law. We have to respect the court’s decisions while disagreeing with them. And honestly, I think that’s something that MAGA Republicans could take a lesson from,” she added, throwing in her dig at half the country that supports Trump.

“It’s OK to disagree with decisions and one another and not turn into violent rhetoric in attempts to steal elections. You win cases, you lose cases, just like elections,” she said, lacking all self-awareness.

“What we need Donald Trump to understand is that there are losers and winners in elections, and if you lose an election that does not mean it’s stolen from you, and that does not give you the ability to incite an assault on the United States Capitol and the country,” she whined.

Griswold was raked over the coals on social media for her part in trying to keep Trump off the ballot in Colorado and for her subsequent meltdown after the Supreme Court’s decision this week.

Rep. Lauren Boebert is threatening a recall of the Democrat.

Others also reacted to Griswold’s remarks.
