Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger has a rather exclusionary idea of diversity that doesn’t include representation for a certain demographic group.
The Old Dominion Democrat is being justifiably criticized after she shared a picture of her cabinet on social media, touting its diverse makeup.
“I’m proud to have the most talented, hardest-working cabinet in Virginia’s history. They are also the most diverse cabinet Virginia has ever seen,” the governor wrote in the Thursday post to X.
I’m proud to have the most talented, hardest-working cabinet in Virginia’s history. They are also the most diverse cabinet Virginia has ever seen.
Every single one of our cabinet secretaries were selected because they’re the best of the best in their respective fields. They also bring invaluable perspectives from across the Commonwealth — from Danville, Hampton Roads, Richmond, NOVA, and more.
I’m grateful to get to work with these incredibly dedicated, hard-working, and talented cabinet officials to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia.

“Every single one of our cabinet secretaries were selected because they’re the best of the best in their respective fields. They also bring invaluable perspectives from across the Commonwealth — from Danville, Hampton Roads, Richmond, NOVA, and more,” Spanberger added, sharing a link to a Richmond Times-Dispatch story touting her hand-picked cabinet officials.
But while it was obviously pleasing to her fellow leftists and those who are champions of diversity, equity, and inclusion, the pic quickly drew backlash from those who noticed the very obvious omission.
Where the white men at?
Tesla/Space X CEO Elon Musk slammed Spanberger’s boasting about the blatant discrimination.
@GovernorVA You are utterly racist and sexist regarding White men. Shame on you!

Conservative commentator and filmmaker Matt Walsh gave Spanberger credit for saying the quiet part out loud.
We have always known that “diverse” just means “no white men” but it’s nice to have Spanberger come out and illustrate the point so explicitly. By this definition, six black people and two middle aged white women is “the most diverse cabinet ever seen.”

Others also savaged the governor’s proud and open bigotry.
And by diverse you mean discrimination against White men

I wasn’t aware that Virginia was 75% black and had zero White men.

We get it, you hate White men.

Where’s the “diversity” you’re talking about?
You have an 86% black cabinet in a state that’s only 19% black.
You have a 0% white male cabinet in a state than 32% white male.
This may be the one of the least gender/race representative cabinets in Virginia’s modern history.

Where’s the diversity?

Governor Spanberger’s definition of “diversity” is held by the overwhelming majority of her party, and if they end up back in control of the government, they will swiftly move to reimpose sweeping discriminatory DEI measures that not only relegate white men to the back of the bus, but make them into second-class citizens as well.
