‘Strong case’: Ilhan Omar could be stripped of citizenship and deported, Homan warns

Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D) flag could be considerably less star-spangled, according to border czar Tom Homan who acknowledged what may come “if the evidence points that way.”

Since the raid on Omar’s property, the same leftists who used “no one is above the law” as a mantra regarding investigations of President Donald Trump have resorted to lockstep allegations of political persecution of the congresswoman. As the public awaits details on the extent and nature of any allegations and charges to be brought against the Squad member, Homan confirmed that denaturalization and deportation could be in her future.

“Of course, if you lie during the naturalization process, there is a process to denaturalize somebody,” the Trump administration official said during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Big Weekend Show.”

“We’ve done it before,” he continued, while reminding those hoping to see accountability that definitive movement could take a while. “It’s a long, tedious process, but it’s been done before. I’ve been involved with those investigations before. And certainly, if the evidence points that way, that could happen.”

Homan’s position came nearly a week after Omar’s Washington, D.C. residence was raided for evidence by federal investigators who seized the Somalia-born lawmaker’s passport along with her cell phone, computer, and more.

Left unanswered by the border czar was any sort of confirmation as to the focus of the investigation, as allegations against Omar have included immigration fraud for falsifying her age as well as for supposedly marrying her brother, and ties to billions of dollars worth of fraud connected to her state’s Somali community.

“I said over a year ago, the allegations were made clear, and it would be investigated, and they are investigating it,” Homan said on Fox News. “I’m not going to get ahead of the bureau or HSI, but I’ve been told they have a strong case, and we’ll let the evidence lead where it leads.”

“But she’ll be held to the same standard you and I are held. If she violated the law, then she’ll be held accountable,” he assured.

As previously reported, NewsNation’s Leland Vittert detailed how numerous other raids took place simultaneously as federal agents searched Omar’s Washington, D.C. residence, and he cited multiple sources to disclose “this investigation extends far beyond the most familiar case and accusation against Omar that she married her brother to help him gain citizenship or that she falsified her birth year to immigrate as a minor.”

The chief Washington anchor described expected grand jury indictments to be “stunning in nature.”

As to whether or not there is cause for investigators to probe beyond immigration fraud, Homan said, “I’m not gonna go there,” before being prodded further only to add, “Not even a little bit. That’s a question for the FBI. I know things, but that’s a question for FBI.”
