Stunned Sunny Hostin booed, takes an on air ribbing for comparing Raquel Welch to Kim Kardashian

As the co-hosts of “The View” announced the sad passing of sex-symbol Raquel Welch at the age of 82, Sunny Hostin dared to compare her to reality star Kim Kardashian, getting slammed by her fellow panelists in the process and loudly booed by the audience as well.

Hostin’s rude awakening on Thursday seemed to take her off guard. Co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg both knocked her for claiming that Kardashian was in the same class as Welch, the iconic actress who passed away on Wednesday.

Goldberg started the segment by paying tribute to the “One Million Years B.C.” star, “We were so heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of the world’s most enduring sex symbols — the fabulous Raquel Welch. Sail on, Raquel. Sail on.”

Behar chimed in adding, “They don’t make any sex symbols like that [anymore].”

That was when Hostin jumped in, starting to make her claim by saying, “Well, Kim Kardashian is…”

Goldberg was stunned and adamantly stated, “No!”

Behar also stomped on the comparison while the audience booed Hostin.

For Hostin’s part, she seemed genuinely taken aback by the reaction from her co-hosts and the audience. She feigned a smile of surprise and shock while putting her hand over her chest.

“Turning, turning! The audience is turning,” Behar proclaimed, trying to calm down the audience and reassert control of the show.

Goldberg seemed totally at a loss for words over Hostin’s comparison.

“That’s not even — you can’t even put them in the same — I’m not even — look, I’m moving on,” she stated.

“Now she’s ticked off!” Behar declared as the audience applauded.

Co-host Ana Navarro also complained about the coverage of Welch’s death during the show.

“In every mention I saw in the news about Raquel Welch — nobody mentioned that she’s Latino,” Navarro whined, attempting to make it all about race. “She was a Latina trailblazing actress from Bolivia.”

Welch was born Jo Raquel Tejada in Chicago. Her father was an engineer from Bolivia and her mother was an American of English ancestry.

Meanwhile, Kardashian found initial fame through a sex tape. She then made herself a brand for clothing, cosmetics, and simply for the sake of being famous. Welch never engaged in such behavior.

Welch landed her first major role in the science fiction thriller “Fantastic Voyage” in 1966 after appearing in Elvis Presley’s 1964 film “Roustabout” and TV series such as “Bewitched” and “McHale’s Navy.” From there she starred in the prehistoric adventure film “One Million Years B.C.,” scantily clad in a deer skin bikini and instantly becoming a sex symbol for millions.

Despite only having three lines in the film, it was her picture on the film’s poster that was enduring. The poster was featured in “The Shawshank Redemption” to cover a tunnel that was dug to escape the prison.

She also starred in the 1967 British comedy “Bedazzled.” She played the part of “Lust” who was sent to tempt Dudley Moore by the devil.

Welch starred in many movies and TV shows over the years.

According to Wikipedia, Welch was politically conservative, “In 2014, during an appearance on The O’Reilly Factor, Welch described herself as being on the conservative side, attributing it to her mother’s Midwestern values. During the Vietnam War, Welch showed her support for the troops at United Service Organizations (USO) shows often appearing with Bob Hope.”
