‘That’s a tough one’: Even lib media can’t ignore brutal poll that eviscerates Biden’s expected SOTU claims

Gaslighting is expected to be in full force during Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, but President Joe Biden’s braggadocio can’t belie what Americans are actually experiencing as his latest record-breaking achievement added another embarrassing feather to his cap.

Since taking office, Biden has frequently made reference to the historic nature of his administration like having the first black woman to serve as vice president despite garnering next to no support from her own party in the primaries, and his Supreme Court nominee being unable to define what a woman is. He’s also brought 40-year-record high inflation and levied historic deterring sanctions against Russia kicking off 12 months of war that is still escalating in Ukraine.

In the countdown to the joint session of Congress where he will undoubtedly gloss over the financial struggles of the American people while reading off a rose-colored teleprompter, the president’s social media account made a number of claims like, “Critics said it wasn’t possible to bring back American manufacturing or grow the economy from the bottom up and the middle out. January’s strong jobs numbers say otherwise. Our economic plan is working.”

He also charged, “For decades, the middle class — the backbone of America — has been hollowed out. That’s why our economic plan focuses on creating good jobs you can raise a family on, jobs that don’t require a college degree. And we’re making progress.”

However, the latest polling from ABC News/Washington Post on the financial outlook was so bad that even CNN couldn’t ignore that a record number of voters considered themselves worse off financially under Biden, with the last time the outlook was as poor coming under former President Barack Obama.

As CNN’s John King said, “that’s a tough one.”

A closer look at the polling numbers showed that a meager 16 percent of Americans viewed their finances as better now compared to the 41 percent feeling the brunt of inflation. The result was a stark turnaround from the peak of former President Donald Trump’s administration where 25 percent fell into the better off category and only 13 percent were unsatisfied.

Of course, Biden wasn’t alone in blowing smoke as his surrogates, like White House economic advisor Brian Deese, claimed “On average, American households are in a better position than they were before the pandemic hit.”

Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg essentially took the tack of leveling the public was too dumb to see how good they had it as he told NBC’s Chuck Todd approval was down, in part, because, “There have been so many accomplishments under this administration, it can be difficult to list them in a distilled way.”

One of the main takeaways, after the numbers were reported, was how political something as concrete as dollars and cents has become as anyone who has had to pay for anything in the past two years wondered about the 41 percent number, “How is this not 100%?”
