This is fun! Geraldo and Olbermann in nasty throwdown: ‘Maybe everybody hates you just because you suck’

Geraldo Rivera and Keith Olbermann threw down on social media when the latter became perturbed over Rivera’s take on the Curb Your Enthusiasm finale — you can always count on the unhinged former ESPN host to be laser-focused on the important issues of the day.

“I’m not a fan, because Larry truly is the self-righteous, snobby, self-loathing, narcissistic ass he portrays. That opinion is informed by an outdoor afternoon Martha’s Vineyard birthday party at the home of retiring Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz,” Rivera said in a tweet.

“I spotted Larry in the crowd and walked toward him. Instead of making at least nominal polite contact, Larry ostentatiously avoided even looking in my direction,” he continued. “He actually scurried about in theatrical panic, ducking behind other guests Groucho Marx-style as he made sure to keep a safe distance.”

After explaining that he later found out from Dershowitz that it was because he worked for Fox News at the time, Rivera concluded, “Now, every time I see Larry being rude, crude and intolerant on television, I say that’s him, that really is Larry David, and he’s not acting.”

Good enough. One man’s take.

But not for Keith Olbermann. The bottomless pit of joy took issue with Rivera’s critique, cranking his discontent up to a 10 in tweeting: “Maybe everybody hates you just because you suck.”

Rivera quickly fired back, “I didn’t know you were still alive.”

That tweet drew in Rivera’s new colleague, NewsNation host Chris Cuomo.

“I have seen you give guys a pass in person because you knew they were not worth the effort to slap some sense into…this is that situation times a zillion…see you on @NewsNation tonight at 8p, you handsome bastid,” Cuomo tweeted in support.

Turns out, at least for social media users, the brouhaha between Geraldo and Olbermann was a battle of losers, though it would be hard to sink as low as Olbermann has in his illustrious career.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
