The couple seem to be speaking with the media every chance they get, making revelations concerning their feelings for one another while promoting Pinkett’s memoir “Worthy.”

Smith wrote a letter to British podcaster, author, and life coach Jay Shetty so he could read it to Pinkett Smith on his podcast “On Purpose.”

“I just turned the final page of ‘Worthy,’” Smith stated. “It is amazing to realize that despite having lived most of my life by your side, I still found myself shocked and stunned and caught off guard, laughing, then inspired, then heartbroken. I was all over the place.”

“It’s one thing to hear anecdotes at a family barbecue, but it was truly overwhelming to take in your story, potently condensed in this way,” Smith groveled.

The 55-year-old actor appears to still be in love with his wife despite her apparent challenges and infidelities. His letter was devoid of anger and instead reeked of desperation masked by a painted-on positive attitude toward Pinkett Smith and her airing of their marital difficulties.

The couple were wed in 1997. Smith wrote that he regretted his own actions during their 25-year run together.

“I know it wasn’t easy to excavate the depths in that way. I applaud and honor you,” he gushed in his letter. “If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would have hugged you more. I’ll start now. Welcome to the Authors Club. I love you endlessly. Now go get some Merlot and take a rest.”

The memoir will debut in bookstores on Oct. 17. Pinkett confesses in her book that the couple have been separated since 2016. She claims in the book that she considered Tupac Shakur her soul mate.

When the podcast host read Smith’s letter to Pinkett during the podcast, she laughed out loud at it.

He knows I can’t have no Merlot!” she declared. “That’s beautiful. That’s why I can’t divorce that joker.”

“To hear him say that he would have hugged me more is me hearing him say he would have taken a bit more time to listen and understand,” she tearfully told Shetty.

Pinkett Smith told Variety that her husband slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards had bizarrely helped re-affirm her commitment to him.

“When I was sitting at the Oscars, it clicked in. As soon as I was like, ‘Oh snap, you hit Chris?'” she recounted.

“I was like, I’m riding with you. I didn’t come into this place as your wife, but I’m leaving here as your wife because we got a storm we’re going to have to deal with together. I am not gonna leave your side,” Pinkett Smith said during the interview.

She went on to claim that they did “really deep work together” following the slap.

As for Smith, he finally broke his silence on the book, sending an email to the New York Times that was published on Saturday. He asserted that the things Pinkett Smith said in her book “kind of woke [him] up.” He called her more “resilient, clever and compassionate than [he’d] understood.”

“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life a sort of emotional blindness sets in,” the actor wrote. “You can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”

The couple evidently have no plans to divorce one another despite their lengthy separation.

“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever,” Pinkett proclaimed during an NBC interview with Hoda Kotb that aired on Oct. 13. “And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
