Turning Point USA’s Benny Johnson discovered at the University of Iowa that, not only “the Left can’t meme,” they can’t control their outbursts when confronted with an image they don’t like — especially when the meme features Vice President Kamala Harris.
While giving a speech about memes, Johnson was highlighting a popular meme that poked fun at the vice president’s cringeworthy attempts at sincerity, when an unidentified man who is assumed to be a student at the university lept up, stormed to the front of the room, and violently smashed the projector with a drop-kick, all while screaming, “Racist *ss b*tch! F**k you!”
He then stormed out of the room, leaving wide-eyed attendees wondering what they’d just witnessed.
Johnson added the words “Meme-Attack Survivor” to his handle and posted the outburst to Twitter, where the clip quickly went viral.

In a follow-up tweet, Johnson reported that the unhinged aggressor was picked up by Iowa City Police for throwing his temper tantrum.
“This violent, meme-hating lib was ARRESTED for attacking the meme presentation I was going,” he tweeted. “To my knowledge this was the first meme-attack-arrest in American history.”
“Thank you Iowa City Police for protecting the memes!” he added.

The meme in question shows the so-called Border Czar cackling with glee over her new bus before it cuts to Harris walking towards a Border Patrol bus, accompanied by Mariachi music.

Johnson later posted a tongue-in-cheek statement about the disturbing incident.
“We often say The LEFT CAN’T MEME,” he wrote. “Tonight, we proved it.”
“I was giving a peaceful speech to the University of Iowa Turning Point USA chapter about memes this evening,” the statement continued. “During our presentation we played a harmless meme of Kamala Harris welcoming a bus full of migrants, set to tasteful mariachi music. That is when a low-T leftist strung-out on pure soy snapped into a violent rage. I watched dispassionately as the libs last drop of testosterone evaporated in an unprovoked kick-attack on an innocent projector.”
“That projector’s crime?” Johnson wrote. “Playing memes.”
“Thankfully, no one was hurt by the domestic terrorist attack other than an innocent Panasonic Projector. RIP,” he added.
And while he maintained his wit in describing the arrest that followed, Johnson makes clear the point that free speech and opposing viewpoints are under attack in America.
“The perpetrator was arrested soon after and booked for a hate-crime against memes. Our hearts go out to the brave Iowa City Police department,” he stated, adding, “Fund The Police.”
“Let this moment serve as a poignant metaphor for what happens to meme-makers across social media when their accounts get attacked by salty, unhinged, free-speech hating Democrats,” Johnson stated. “As someone who lived through January 6th, I can tell you this attack was much scarier and represents a larger existential threat to our Democracy. ”
“The 1st Amendment is under attack constantly from the Left,” he tweeted. “It survived – this time.”
“In conclusion:” Johnson repeated, “The Left Can’t Meme.”

While many online responded to the shocking lack of impulse control with the same sense of sarcasm, some were quick to point out that these violent attacks against conservatives are likely to continue until those who feel emboldened to act out face some serious consequences.
“Until acts like this result in arrests, fines, suspension from school etc these act will continue to happen,” wrote one Twitter user.
“Correct,” replied another, “until there are consequences for bad behavior…it will continue. The root cause analysis isn’t hard…”

Others couldn’t help but appreciate the ultimate irony of the situation.
“And just like that,” noted one user, “the meme killer became a meme.”
