Trump celebrates ‘great honor’ as golf legend Jack Nicklaus awards him with Championship Trophy

Amidst a whirlwind of legal woes, former President Donald Trump took a well-earned night off from the cesspool that is American politics to receive not one, but two awards for the game he loves: golf.

“It is my great honor to be at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach tonight, AWARDS NIGHT, to receive THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY & THE SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY,” Trump wrote Sunday on Truth Social. “I WON BOTH!”

“A large and golfing talented membership, a GREAT and difficult course, made the play very exciting,” he wrote. “The qualifying and match play was amazing. A large and distinguished group will be there tonight. Very exciting, thank you!!!”

“Distinguished” and glamorous, made more so by the attendance of beloved former First Lady Melania Trump, who stood at his side as golf legend Jack Nicklaus, holder of 18 major championships in the sport, presented him with a trophy.

Trump introduced golf’s all-time leader, saying Nicklaus played the game “at a level that nobody has ever seen before.”

“It’s an honor to have you,” Trump said, shaking Nicklaus’s hand.

Nicklaus has long been an outspoken supporter of Trump.

In May 2022, he blasted “cancel culture” after the PGA pulled its Championship event from Trump’s luxurious Bedminster golf course in New Jersey and relocated it to Oklahoma.

The decision was made to hold the event at Tulsa’s Southern Hills Country Club back on January 11, 2021, just days after Trump supporters entered the United States Capitol building on January 6th.

“Trump may be a lot of things, but he loves golf and he loves this country,” Nicklaus told Fire Pit Collective at the time.

“This is cancel culture,” he stated. “He’s a student of the game and a formidable figure in the game. What he does in the future in golf will depend on what the cancel culture will allow him to do.”

Speaking in West Palm Beach, Nicklaus offered congratulations to all the winners. “Keep it going in the game of golf,” he said before embracing Trump at the Champions Dinner.

Naturally, President Biden, who has difficulty staying upright on a bicycle, had to take a “Dark Brandon” jab at his “extreme MAGA” nemesis.

Congratulations, Donald,” he wrote on X. “Quite the accomplishment.”

The president — or “the intern who typed this post” — didn’t land the “bazinga” he thought he would.

“No way is Joe awake past 8pm,” noted one user.

“There’s no possible way you could play round of golf!” scoffed another. “You would literally fall off the golf cart! Then somebody would have to rescue the cart girls from you sniffing them!”

“The last time you swung a golf club the ball went backwards 10 yards,” a third reminded the president. “It was on video.”

“Time to Fire the Night Shift WH Interns,” suggested one user. “They tried to troll Trump, but dunked you instead!”
