For all of his political strengths and business savvy, former President Donald J. Trump has repeatedly demonstrated one major shortcoming, his inability to hire people who don’t end up stabbing him in the back, and one of them, his ex-attorney general Bill Barr has been getting almost daily face-time on television as he provides his expert take on the ongoing legal troubles of his one-time boss.
The smoother-than-silk Barr was at it again on Sunday morning and during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” he told anchor Shannon Bream that it’s “ridiculous” for Trump to suggest that he is the victim of a witch hunt and that he’s “toast” if “even half” of what’s in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s indictment is true, yet more twisting of the knife into the 2024 GOP frontrunner which he seems to take great relish in doing.
Barr’s comments didn’t sit well with Trump to took to his Truth Social platform on Sunday to denounce the former top law enforcement official in perhaps his harshest terms yet, referring to him as a “gutless pig” whom he suggests is nurturing a grudge against him.
“Virtually everyone is saying that the Indictment is about Election Interference & should not have been brought, except Bill Barr, a ‘disgruntled former employee’ & lazy Attorney General who was weak & totally ineffective. He doesn’t mean what he’s saying, it’s just MISINFORMATION.Barr’s doing it because he hates “TRUMP” for firing him. He was deathly afraid of the Radical Left when they said they would Impeach him. He knows the Indictment is Bull…. Turn off FoxNews when that ‘Gutless Pig’ is on!” Trump wrote in his angry post.

It turns out that Trump was only getting warmed up on Truth Social, taking his grievances with Barr to longtime ally Roger Stone’s new radio show on 77 WABC, “The Roger Stone Show.”
“This thing is a disgrace,” Trump said of the Smith’s indictment “And virtually everybody other than a lowlife like Bill Barr, who, as you know, I terminated because he was gutless. He wouldn’t do what you’re supposed to do. But everybody says this is a disgraceful indictment.”
“I think he’s a coward who didn’t do his job,” Trump said, adding, “We had unbelievable people, as you know, in the administration. But we also had some that we got wrong. And Bill Barr was a mistake.”
“And now he goes and he sits down — if they can find a chair for him, because it’s not that easy — and he sits down and he just bloviates and it’s disgraceful,” the former president said. “It’s actually unpatriotic. It’s so bad for our country, just so bad. But, you know, he’s got a lot of hatred.”
During his Fox News appearance that Trump is referring to, Barr told of Smith’s indictment, “It’s a very detailed indictment. And it’s very, very damning. And this idea of presenting Trump as a victim here, a victim of a witch hunt, is ridiculous.”
“When I talk about a slob like Bill Barr, just a stupid person in a lot of ways, this is really not the standard,” Trump told Stone.
