Trump orders ‘Iron Dome’ for US immediately; Americans ‘protect other countries, but we don’t protect ourselves’

President Donald Trump’s flurry of executive orders continues this time with the construction of an Iron Dome-like system for the United States.

As global tensions continue to rise and America’s enemies become more hostile, the president declared the “immediate” construction of a defense system like the one that has protected Israel from missile attacks.

While at a GOP dinner on Friday, Trump congratulated Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on his confirmation and signaled his desire for the Iron Dome.

“Pete Hegseth, who’s going to be great, by the way… I think he’s going to be fantastic. I know him very well. I think he’s going to be fantastic,” he said. “He’s what we need, to immediately begin the construction of a state-of-the-art Iron Dome missile defense shield, which will be able to protect Americans.”

He pointed out that Americans consistently “protect other countries, but we don’t protect ourselves,” adding that former President Ronald Reagan was interested in the system during the Cold War threat, but the United States simply “didn’t have the technology.”

But that has changed, Trump said.

“And now we have phenomenal technology. You see that with Israel. So I think the United States is entitled to that. And everything will be made right here in the USA 100%,” he vowed.

“We’re going next to ensure that we have the most lethal fighting force in the world.”

Once the president arrived at Joint Base Andrews that night, he confirmed that an executive order to that effect was signed and on Monday the State Department issued a statement saying they are in line with the president’s interest in the Iron Dome.

“Other areas the secretary will study include reinstating troops that were pushed out because of COVID-19 vaccination mandates and developing an Iron Dome anti-missile system for the United States,” they added.
