Trump sounds off! Reactions pour in as Bragg’s unprecedented abuse of power deals a body blow to U.S. democracy

A New York City grand jury has officially indicted former President Donald J. Trump, a stunning turn of events that comes as it appeared that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s malicious prosecution of the 2024 GOP frontrunner had stalled out, a watershed moment in the nation’s history that could ring down the curtain on the American democratic experiment.

It had just been reported that Bragg’s grand jury would be taking a month off amid rumors of troubles as well as the credibility of star witness Michael Cohen, the disgraced former lawyer of the ex-POTUS whose testimony was widely believed to be the lynchpin upon which the George Soros-backed DA’s trumped-up case involving a “hush money” payment to pornographic movie star Stormy Daniels, and according to additional reports, another alleged payment, this one to Playboy model Karen McDougal who also claimed that she had an affair with Trump.

“This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal,” a spokesperson for Bragg’s Office said in a Thursday statement. “Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected.”

The former president quickly responded to his legal lynching by Bragg’s grand jury in the typically defiant flair that he has demonstrated during the duration of the eight-year witch hunt conducted by his enemies.

“These Thugs and Radical Left Monsters have just INDICATED the 45th President of the United States of America, and the leading Republican Candidate, by far, for the 2024 Nomination for President. THIS IS AN ATTACK ON OUR COUNTRY THE LIKES OF WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE. IT IS LIKEWISE A CONTINUING ATTACK ON OUR ONCE FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS. THE USA IS NOW A THIRD WORLD NATION, A NATION IN SERIOUS DECLINE. SO SAD!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The former president also released a lengthy statement on the indictment and the brazen abuse of power by a Democratic Party that no longer even remotely functions under the long-established system of rules and checks and balances that have served the nation for the duration of its existence prior to election night 2016.

“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history,” Trump said. “From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats- the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country- have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement.”

“The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable—indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference,” he added. “Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done.”

Reactions poured in after the news broke just in time for Thursday’s evening news cycle with Republicans rallying to Trump’s defense.

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis wrote on Twitter. “It is un-American.”

“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent,” added the rising GOP star and Trump’s top 2024 rival. “Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.”

“Alvin Bragg has irreparably damaged our country in an attempt to interfere in our Presidential election,” tweeted Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy. “As he routinely frees violent criminals to terrorize the public, he weaponized our sacred system of justice against President Donald Trump. The American people will not tolerate this injustice, and the House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account.”

“Outrageous,” wrote Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) who, as the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is currently in the process of investigating Bragg.

“I’m honored to give a Lincoln’s Day Address in Gettysburg tonight. The irony of standing on the battleground when I found out President Trump has been indicted is profound,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tweeted. “My President is innocent and the only one standing in the way of these modern day tyrants, just like our founding fathers did, to protect each of us from evil.”

“Alvin Bragg is a NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT to our justice system. President Trump has been proven to have done NO wrong. This is nothing more than a political stunt to prevent Trump from becoming President in 2024!” Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) tweeted.

“We all know that the RINOs are secretly happy about the indictment, but the fascist left won’t stop with Trump. They’re power-hungry & will do anything to crush their political opponents. If we’re ever going to save our country, the entire GOP needs to finally figure that out,” wrote Trump’s eldest son Don Jr. who could be next on the list for Democrats who have weaponized the country’s legal system.

In a second tweet, Trump Jr. added, “This isn’t just the radical left weaponizing the government to target their political enemies, this is them weaponizing the government to interfere in the 2024 election to stop Trump. The only solution is to shove it down their throats and put him back in the White House!!!”

On the flip side, Trump’s enemies were so excited that they nearly wet themselves and Thursday night would be marked with jubilation and popping champagne corks in Hollywood.

The nation is now in completely uncharted waters and it could be time to batten down the hatches.
