While the United States no longer has an embassy in Iran, a Virtual Embassy was launched in 2011 under then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the “primary official resource for the Iranian people to get information directly from the US government about US policy and American values and culture.”
On Wednesday, this enterprise tweeted a quote from Vice President Kamala Harris disparaging America as a racist, bigoted country.
In Farsi.
And in the event you may wonder if the tweet was from a misguided intern who drank a little too much woke-flavored Kool-Aid, the State Department would tweet the same message in English the very next day.
The tweet reads: “The truth is: racism exists in America. Xenophobia exists in America. Antisemitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, it all exists. Tackling injustice wherever it exists remains the work ahead.”

If that wasn’t bizarre enough, the quote from Harris is from nine months ago.
A White House official confirmed to The New York Post that the quote is taken from remarks Harris made in May 2021 at a ceremony for President Biden signing the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.
A sad irony here is that homosexuality is illegal in Iran and the hardline Islamic government executed two gay men earlier this month who were convicted of sodomy after spending six years on death row, the Post reported, citing the Human Rights Activists News Agency.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who served under Trump, took great exception to the tweet in Farsi.
“For Vice President Harris to suggest moral equivalence between the Iranian regime’s desire to eliminate Israel and a national policy of gender apartheid with American equality under the law is truly dangerous and ungrounded in reality. Americans are better than this,” Pompeo tweeted.

With a long list of challenges facing President Biden, from historic low approval ratings to a 40-year high inflation rate, one might think the administration would take a break from their woke agenda to address real problems the country is facing
Here’s a sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
Whoever is sitting there and tweeting should gain more experience. VP was talking to Americans and you just translate what sounds pretty bad in Persian for foreign readers. You should provide context.

Kamala Harris tweeting in Iran’s official language that the US has a long list of problems. She thinks this makes her look enlightened.
In that part of the world it will be seen as projecting overwhelming weakness. https://t.co/Qdk7Xpi4Q5

We have democracy, freedom of speech, rule of law and equality under it. We have the ability to move towards a more perfect union. None of this is true in Iran. This is a disgraceful tweet by our Vice President. https://t.co/0UfjGckJTi

US Vice President #KamalaHarris is tweeting in Farsi (Iran official language) that America has racism, Islamophobia, and all sorts of social illnesses.
President Obama in his speech in Cairo in 2009 has also blasted America, and proposed a de facto partnership with the Ikhwan. https://t.co/HFFRWGQDLI

What’s the goal of tweeting this in Farsi apart from arming the theocratic regime in Iran with propaganda talking points? https://t.co/vMpBCoyBcj

Is Kamala Harris the Vice President of the US or of some US-hating dictatorship? Here she is spreading anti-#American propaganda to an Iranian language outlet. These attacks by one of the top US officials on her own country will be shamelessly used by #Irann regime. https://t.co/HJAh1QzCfa
