Um, SAVE ACT?!? Senator throws BIG birthday bash on the Hill for his ‘BABYDOG’

The U.S. Senate has no interest in securing election integrity or addressing widespread corruption, and you can forget about holding anyone accountable for anything in the DC swamp. Still, members of the august body that does double duty as an elderly care center these days know how to mark an occasion.

Sen. Jim Justice — no pun intended — took great care this week to celebrate his dog’s birthday, complete with a custom-built covered wagon and a giant billboard outside the Republican senator’s office touting “Babydog’s 7th Birthday Rodeo.”

Turns out, the English bulldog won’t turn 7 until October 15, according to TMZ, but Congress won’t be in session then. To get more attention, Justice opted to celebrate the event early.

As seen in the video below, an aide marched the covered wagon through the halls of the Hart Senate Office Building, with the dog inside. At the ripe old age of 75, perhaps the task would have been too much for the wholly out-of-shape senator from West Virginia.

Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of employees on the public payroll are seen standing in the halls recording the event on their smartphones while singing happy birthday to the dog.

Talk about living in a bubble: these are the people who are supposed to care about the problems this nation faces, and the struggles hardworking Americans encounter on a daily basis. More often than not, challenges are brought on by feckless politicians and their self-serving legislation.

As for the SAVE America Act, count Justice among the throng of GOP senators publicly supporting the legislation, knowing full well it will not pass.

Mockery aside, here he is touting his SAFE (Stopping Addiction and Falls for the Elderly) Act, which would amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to include physical therapists and occupational therapists as health professionals. Ironically, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who is 84, was out for an extended time after allegedly falling in his home earlier this year.
