Unhinged woman jumps McDonald’s counter, threatens workers, makes her own burger

A viral video shows an unstable woman in Australia going on a wild rampage at a McDonald’s, threatening customers and employees before jumping the counter to make her own burger and eventually getting arrested by police for the stunt.

The woman evidently became irate before launching herself over the counter, screaming at employees. It is unclear what set her off.

Police said they were called to McDonald’s on Hindley Street in Adelaide’s CBD at about 10:30 pm on Thursday after reports of a woman acting in a disorderly manner came in.

“I will beat you up and I will leave!” the woman shouted in the video, which as of yesterday had more than 75,000 views, according to the New York Post.

After vaulting over the counter, the woman dumped a bag of food an employee was preparing for a customer and then headed back into the kitchen. She proceeded to further scream at employees before going about making herself a burger.

She went so far as to get a bottle of water from inside a refrigerator before getting into a shouting match with someone. Then two cops showed up and cuffed her, leading the woman off screaming.

Two young staff members followed the woman around the McDonald’s. One of them was crying and filming, while the other spoke on a phone.

The police are claiming that she threw the water bottle at a customer which led to an assault charge. She also allegedly damaged a door.

The 19-year-old unnamed assailant was charged with disorderly behavior, property damage, and assault in connection to the incident. She has reportedly made bail and is scheduled to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in March.

Commenters were shocked at the woman’s actions on the TikTok video and weren’t amused by it.

One commented, “It’s really sad people have to go to work and deal with this stuff.”

Another asserted, “People need to pay for their actions.”

One woman stated, “People stop bloody filming and go help! What is wrong with you?”

The general consensus in the comments seemed to be this happens in America, not Australia.

According to ABC Australia, this is the second incident at a South Australian outlet this week following a 20-year-old staff member being assaulted at the Melrose Park outlet.

In September, South Australia introduced harsher penalties for people who assault retail workers.

McDonald’s Australia said in a statement that “anti-social behavior is not tolerated in our restaurants and we expect our people to be treated with respect at all times.”

The retail workers’ union also said there had been an increase in disorderly behavior during the holidays and is calling for South Australians to stay calm when dealing with people who are just doing their job.

Shop Distributive and Allied Employees Association (SDA) spokesperson Jordan Mumford commented that the number of incidents was “extremely concerning,” according to ABC Australia.

“We’re seeing an absolute surge in this kind of behavior throughout fast-food establishments and this is just another one to add to the list of these kinds of instances that we’re seeing all over the place at the moment,” he remarked.

“We’re seeing far too many of these instances occur,” Mumford stated.
