Unimpressed Dem donors blast ‘ludicrous’ call with Kamala

In a sign that there could be speed bumps for the big Kamala Harris rollout, Democrat donors weren’t impressed with the DEI veep during a recent conference call.

The pressure on President Joe Biden to abandon his reelection campaign is intensifying with a growing faction of the party in a full-blown mutiny with time of the essence to throw their embattled leader overboard and the campaign trotted out Harris to calm the high-rollers on the Friday call which according to reports, was a total disaster.

On the call which included 300 major donors, the veep failed to reassure the jittery donors with some of the feedback including such descriptions as “mismanaged,” “rushed,” and “ludicrous,” according to NBC News.

“We know which candidate in this election puts the American people first: our president, Joe Biden,” Harris gushed about Biden during the call, campaign officials said. “With every decision he makes in the Oval Office, he thinks about how it will impact working Americans. And I witness it every day.”

“Something I believe in my heart of hearts,” she reportedly said on the call, which was organized by Biden campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon. “It is something I feel strongly you should all hear and should take with you when you leave. And tell your friends too. We are going to win this election. We are going to win.”

But her sales pitch was unconvincing and a turnoff to many on the call.

“It was a total failure,” said one anonymous source quoted by NBC News. “It was damaging. It was poor planning.”

It didn’t help that Harris made donors wait 20 minutes before she joined and during that time, they were  “admonished” and told they needed to  “lock in and get behind” the geriatric leaders instead of joining efforts to oust him.

“Please help us turn down the volume on this conversation publicly,” said Melissa Morales, the founder of Latino outreach group Somos Votantes.

“It’s time to stop the leaks and the rampant rumors. Your message has been heard and received. But every day that we continue this publicly chaotic conversation, we come closer to a loss — no matter who the nominee is,” Morales said according to NBC News.

“These are donors who are not used to getting admonished and told what to do,” a source told the outlet.

The call was so bad that one of the groups that promoted it apologized afterward.

“Not surprisingly, there was no news generated on this call, and instead, it was a pitch for donors to continue to invest in groups on the ground who are working to defeat Donald Trump,” Corridor Partners, a firm that advises climate-focused donors said in an email. “The vice president spoke very briefly and encouraged us all to keep working hard to win in November.”

“The call was not productive, and we wanted to apologize to each of you who joined for sharing that invitation,” read the email which was reviewed and reported by the New York Times.

Even though Harris is by all outward appearances still on the team, she has emerged as the leading choice of many in the anti-Biden insurrection to be awarded with the party’s nomination and a matchup with former President Donald J. Trump who looks to be unstoppable, especially after last week’s failed assassination attempt.

But while she is beloved by activists seeking to leverage her race and gender into voter turnout, the donor class may be much harder to convince.
