Unprecedented enthusiasm gap hounds Dems: ‘They can’t find anybody’

An MSNBC panel fretted over what one participant saw as an unprecedented enthusiasm gap between Democrats and Republicans regarding the 2024 presidential election.

As dour-faced MSNBC propagandist Nicolle Wallace looked on, Tim Alberta a staff writer at The Atlantic, lowered the boom.

“When I talk with Democrat elected officials in the battleground states, they tell me the same story over and over and over again,” Alberta said. “They can’t find anybody to come out and volunteer for them to do the sort of work that’s necessary in a field operation because there’s just no enthusiasm.”

“I mean, we hear all the time about the cliche ‘enthusiasm gap’ in politics. I’ve never seen an enthusiasm gap like the one we’re witnessing in the summer of this election year,” he continued. “I’ve heard horror stories from people on the ground in Michigan, in Pennsylvania, in Arizona about just striking out time and time again. As local Democratic Party chapters, county chapters have tried to get people to come in and phone bank to get mail, going to knock on doors. They can’t do it, they can’t find people.”

Even worse for Democrats, Rachel Maddow reported on a new poll showing a 31-point drop among black women in supporting Biden when compared to 2020. Add to that devastating news a recent Axios poll showing the enthusiasm gap among Latinos favors Trump, and Democrats may want to start panicking.

Social media users noted the difference in excitement between the two parties as well, sharing statistics from various polls — one such post was from earlier this month, suggesting that this is not a new development:

Democrats are in the midst of what may be a complete collapse, with rumors swirling that cognitively challenged President Joe Biden will step aside this weekend and that an open convention would likely occur next month in what amounts to a total rejection of Vice President Kamala Harris.

For what it’s worth, the White House insists Biden is “determined” to keep running and defeat Trump in November.

Meanwhile, Republicans just wrapped up a unified convention featuring the likes of Hulk Hogan, UFC President Dana White, and Kid Rock.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
