Valerie Jarrett lets it slip, admits Kamala is a ‘continuation’ of Obama

It would appear that saying the quiet part out loud is no longer taboo in politics.

Former Senior Advisor to Barack Obama Valerie Jarrett directly compared the “joy and enthusiasm” of Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign to Obama’s 2008 campaign. Speaking at an Axios event on Tuesday, Jarrett referred to it as a “continuation” of the former president’s “hard work.”

“In a sense, it’s a continuation of the hard work he began,” she said. “We have nothing but joy and enthusiasm for what’s going on right now. Young people today who are picking up that baton and running with it is all President Obama would have ever wanted.”

“I think it will be a personal message … one of why this is an opportunity for us to be joyful and get engaged again and be enthusiastic again and work hard again,” she added, speaking about former First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech on Tuesday.

“Our democracy has been under threat and under attack, and it is up to us to be those active and engaged citizens to ensure that we get back on track.”

This is not the first time that Jarrett has discussed the close relationship between the VP and the former president. Speaking to the New York Times, the advisor revealed that they had developed a close friendship over the years, prompting many to wonder just how much influence Obama may have had over the Biden/Harris administration.

“They met, they clicked and they have over the years developed a very close friendship,” she revealed.

In 2013, Obama called her the “best-looking attorney general in the country” during a gushing description of Harris. He would later apologize for this remark after it sparked controversy.

“You have to be careful to, first of all, say she is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough, and she is exactly what you’d want in anybody who is administering the law, and making sure that everybody is getting a fair shake,” he said. “She also happens to be, by far, the best-looking attorney general in the country.”
